I always collect fees monday morning for that week- for obvious reasons. I have a new family starting next week who asked if they could pay on Fridays when they get paid. Of course I said no, but that I would work with them to get them to that point of being able to pay on Mon. mornings.

Any suggestions of what deal we can come up with?

Does this make sense:

Monday they have $125 due. Pay nothing.
Friday Pay $150 ($25more)
Monday they have $25 paid for
Friday (owe$100) but pay $150
Monday they have $50 paid for
Friday (owe $75) but pay $150
Monday they have $75 paid for
Friday (owe $50) but pay $150
Monday they have $100 paid for
Friday (owe $25) but pay $150
Monday they pay nothing cuz I collected $125 the friday before.
Friday, they take the $125 out of their checks for that next Monday morn.

Does this seem like it would help them? Am I missing something? It would take them 5 weeks to get to the point of paying in advance. I think that's a fair deal.

Anyone in this business knows, you cannot wait until Friday to get paid. If you do, guess what? You just busted your but all week FOR NOTHING. They can choose not to pay you and then you're stuck- taking them to court is impossible for those small dollar amounts. BELIEVE ME- it happens to almost everyone who does this for a living. It happened ONCE to me 11 years ago, and I refuse to let that happen again.

After taxes, food, electric, insurance, I make minimum wage. Why would I do it then? I get the benefits of being home. I DO NOT MAKE MONEY HAND OVER FIST. That is a crazy notion!

I'm not good at math and am not a daycare provider, but be flexible. When my child was in a facility daycare we could either pay biweekly or monthly. We preferred paying monthly. It was easiest for us.

I think it is an excellent idea. If they balk at this, I suspect they will be poor payers in general. Day care providers often get the short end of the stick, as you no doubt know. You are making an exception for them, if they don't go along you can decide whether or not to take them on as clients.

Why cant you just make a small compromise and let them pay on fridays? I mean some people cannot pay on Mondays- And it might be tough for them to pay on Mondays. Its not that big of a deal. You still get your money either way.Just lay off a little bit.

It seems fair to ask a parent to pay in advance...you have a business to run. seems fair to me....they may resist because people don't like change...seems there would be a week paid as well....this also depends on their individual financial situation.

Exactly this is what I was thinking as soon as I read your question, this is not to much to ask and you are willing to work with them so either they except it or find else where to go.
