Cinderella Man is a great movie (starring Russell Crowe)

A movie about crazy Mike Tyson seems obvious

I would like to see a movie about Larry Holmes

Rocky 3 was the best Rocky film and should have been the last Rocky film (though I did enjoy Rocky 4 too). Clubber Lang ruled hard.

The Great White Hype starring Damon Wayans and Samuel L. Jackson was the best non Rocky boxing movie ever. It was a hilarious commedy, but it was also a dead on look at the real life world of boxing behind the scenes. The cast was loaded with Jeff Goldblum, Jamie Fox, Corbin Bernsen, Cheech Marin, and lots of other great actors in it. The Reverend Sultan character was Don King without the name and the soundtrack with music from Bone Thugs to Brian Setzer was great.

Raging Bull- Jake LaMotta (Robert De Niro)
Someone Up There Likes Me- Rocky Graziano
(Paul Newman) are the two with the biggest stars.
There is also The Joe Louis Story and Marciano, but they might not be available on DVD.
Check out the Marciano/Ali computer fight and documentary available at Best Buy- you will learn a lot about why it is so stupid when these kids scream, "Ali was too big and too fast for Marciano!"

Normally, when I need a 'pick me up', I just play Buster Douglas knocking Mike Tyson the f*ck out! That was the closest thing to a Joe Louis combination finish! Only some good lovin' can top that.

The blogbaba's favorite boxing movie is the documentary "When we were Kings".

Some other good ones are "the Champ" with Jon Voight and Ricky Schroder and the Hillary Swank/Clint Eastwood remake of it called "Million Dollar Baby".

Will Smith as "Ali" and Ving Rhames as "Don King" were both classics, and the bit part the real Don King played in "Devil's Advocate", Al Pachino's movie were Al plays the devil is up there gets an honorable mention.

Anthony Quinn as "Mountain Rivera" the parody of Primo Carnera's career was a good one and I even liked the Abbot and Castillo movie about Louie the Looper, they were hilarious. Curly of the three stooges with the mulberry bush song turning him into a ring terror cracked me up too.

Somebody should make a movie about the Jack London short story "A Piece of Steak". It's the single best story about boxing I have ever read, and believe me I have read a lot about boxing. If you get the chance, find Jack London's short story and read it, if your a boxing fan, you will love it. It's the same author who wrote "Call of the Wild" and "White Fang", but his best was "A Piece Of Steak".

Diggstown ,Ali and Cinderella man were great movies but I got to give it up to Raging Bull as being the best of all time .

And the boxer who would have a great movie if directed by Quinten Tarantino would be Johnny Tapia that guy has a crazy *** life . Or the story of Salvador Sanchez being a promising up and coming fighter and dying in a car accident when he was 21 .I would pay 10 bucks to see that movie

Besides the first four Rocky movies, I'd have to say Raging Bull was the best. It isn't my favorite, though. I like a little stupider brand of sports movie, so I'll go with "Diggstown." It's brilliantly awful.

They should make a movie about Holyfield starring Evander as himself. That would be hilarious.

List of my fave boxing films:

When we were Kings
Cinderella Man
Diggstown
The Great White Hype (starring: Damon Wayans and Samuel Jackson)
Play it to the Bone (starring: Antonio Banderas and Woody Harrelson)
Gladiator

As for the Boxer whose life be made a movie...I'd vote for Dempsey or any of his contemporaries. A lot of boxing fans don't know much about these boxers nowadays, me included, it was a very different era back then.

I`m watching Raging Bull now. It`s a great movie, but I believe Cinderella Man was better. As to the "Great White Hype" I love this movie because it is a reminder of the past when White fighters were known as non-contenders. Today I can watch and laugh as they dream of the great black hope who will finally defeat these bad boy White men. I love seeing them boost bums like Sam Peter or Calvin Brock and try to downplay the fact there are no black heavyweight champions now. LOL

The Hurricane. Also they were suppose to make a movie about Sonny Liston in which Ving Rhames was to play Sonny Liston it is called Night Train. Its been stuck in production but that would be interesting since Sonny Liston was involved with the mob, went to jail, threw fights & was killed by the mob.
