I am currently working as a receptionist in Dubai. I arrived 2 monhs ago & since I have to exit soon, my employer issued me an new company-sponsored visit visa while they process my employment/residency visa. I have already submitted all the documentary requirements except my passport. If I resign, what are the steps I need to take to transfer the company-sponsored visa back to visit visa? Will an employment ban be imposed on me even though the employment visa processing was not finished?

Your question is little confusing. I think you are on visit visa then your employer has applied for a work visa and you are not interested to continue or stay there. The ban will be imposed only if you have entered to Dubai on work visa. Either directly or amended visit to work visa. In your case there will be no ban because still the work visa process has not been completed. So you can resign and leave from Dubai simply without submitting your passport to the Immigration.

You cannot apply for a new visit visa while you are staying there, in other words till you exit from Dubai.

I hope the information will help.

All the best.

let me see that I have this right.

You currently have a visit visa stamped in your passport and your employer is "working" on a change of status to employment visa. You would like to quite that job and stay in the UAE.

Observations :
1. you are working illegally without an employ visa.

2. The visa procedure is
a. Entry permit for employment
b. medical test, eye scan and fingerprints
c. visa approval
d. visa stamping
e. work permit

If as you say you have a visit visa stamped in your passport and not the entry for employment you cannot be banned as the process is not started.

If you are waiting only for the visa stamping in your passport then the process is complete and the visa number is issued, if its stamped in your passport does not mater. Its in the Immigration computer.
