mrscjr:

While the American Heritage Dictionary defines both "affect" and "effect" as both verbs and nouns, in this case I did by definitional problems misuse them. So although you were incorrect in your criticism, you were correct in pointing out an error. In fact, I could have quite correctly used "effects" in both instances.

Everything we know about the brain shows us that there is no plausible reason to believe in any such thing as a 'soul'.

I guess that the brain is like the physical antenna of the soul, so if the brain is injured the soul is not perceived in the same manner.

In the same manner, brain injury may affect free will.

The "soul or spirit" would have to be inextricably linked to the brain since brain injury can cause total personality shift.

As long as the body lives, the soul/spirit is within. The soul is not your brain. The soul is eternal. The soul gives you life. Your soul is older than you are, it's eternal, it's spiritual. It gives you eternal life. Your life adds to your soul, as much or perhaps more so than it adds to your life. Do not fear the Resurrection. Life is abolutely great.

Life is Heavenly when you live it without guilt.

The whole subject is amazing within itself. There is so many possibilities for how you could give a theory on this in regards to spirit or soul.

God takes these things into account. A brain injured person can't be held accountable, just as an insane person can't.

Effect is a noun.
Affect is a verb.

Your question is "How do the Effects of brain injury Affect the concept of soul, spirit and free will?

You're welcome.

And here is what God say about brain injury:

Psalm 53
---------------------------------------------
1The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.
