or do you think that it will take up too much space on the page?

Sometimes I feel like I need to say something to someone about thier answers. Do you?

I've thought about this too. It would be cool to get to comment on some people's answers. I sometimes feel like I need to say something to some of them. But on the other hand, it would take up a lot of space on their servers and it would probably become kind of "chatty" in here, which is not the purpose of Yahoo!Answers.

I think it would be interesting to have an experiment with this possibility though, to try it for a little while to see if it improves Y!A or not.

People do comment on some of my answers, by e-mailing me. I hear from aggressive people, suspicious people, sweet, appreciative people, people trying to obtain further input and people who want me to answer questions I wouldn't have answered otherwise, just to see what I have to say. Occasionally people will comment on other people's answers on the page itself, but how often do we return to a question to see what has happened since we entered our own answer? Besides, if we could comment in this way, I think that it would produce undesirable effects by way of inhibiting people who gave their answers in good faith and perhaps lack self confidence from answering further questions (those poor people whose spelling and grammar are constantly being attacked) and making commentators to being banned for insulting other participants. If we want lively debate, perhaps the forum pages are the ones to turn to.

Answer. Then below your answer right in brackets (By the way XYZ, I think your opinion is quite valid).

If Yahoo! Answers did such a thing, this community would turn into a mess.

you're probably right that it would take up alot of space, but sometimes i would like to comment on someone's answer. it would open it to alot more criticism than there already is, though, too

YES I DO ACTUALLY, I WAS THINKING THIS SAME THING TODAY. I KNOW WE CAN RATE THE ANSWERS BUT IT IS NOT ENOUGH IN SOME CASES. I THINK YAHOO SHOULD DEFINITELY HAVE THIS OPTION. IT WILL HELP EVERYONE. THE ASK-ER, ANSWERER AND THE PERSON COMMENTING CAN BENEFIT FROM THIS OPTION TOO. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS UP I APPRECIATE IT:)

Ocassionally I will contact someone if I have a question. If you could comment on their answers, it would get very messy and drawn out.

it is not as much as Yahoo solutions it is as much as different contributors to rfile posts that are violations. it is community moderation. All it takes is two "trusted" contributors in uncommon events in user-friendly terms one to rfile a submit and the bots get rid of it.
