This channel would feature shows like The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, Max Headroom, China Beach, Commander-in-Chief, Life as we know it, and other shows that required intelligence to comprehend and appreciate, instead of the mindless drivel that the networks keep playing to the least common denominator of the viewing public.

Oh, my proposed channel would have an outright ban on all reality and game shows.

Third Time's a Charm: We'd ban ALL game shows, but we'd excuse you for changing the channel to any established, original gameshow (defined as "any gameshow that aired before the first episode of 'Who Wants to Be A Millionaire'")

Add ABC's recently canceled "Traveler" to that list, too.

PBS has been trying this for years and they still have to do membership drives to stay on the air.

America doesn't want education or thought provacation. They want something fantastical and low brain power.

To reply to an answerer. Finalfrontier. Take the High Road was a Scottish soap opera. The British version of Who's The Boss was The Upper Hand, I've just been watching it. I like it but the original was still the best. Original comedies succeed on their one liners, often these one liners just don't translate into another culture. How can you translate Fawlty clipping Manuel? The Americans just wouldn't get it. Or, The Ministry of Funny Walks is funny because its a staid English, bowler-hatted gent ... walking funnily. Remake Friends - you can't. That humour was distinctly American. We don't traditionally have coffee bars, our choices would be a pub or a greasy joe's ... not the same.

Great idea...!!!

I'll definitely watch it...(what an amazing and satisfying thing "that" would be...

Not sure on the "marketing" thing, though...

With me, you, and maybe 3 other people I know on the entire planet...

The ratings might be pretty low...

(by the way...with the exception of "Max Headroom," I hope with some forethought that you would be able to come up with better examples than China Beach...!!! You almost lost me completely on that one...)

I was with you until you wanted to ban all game shows.
Would you make an exception for Jeopardy?

I would watch something like it! Thank God for DVR or my TV would never get turned on.
