Shore rate or On-shore rate or Off-shore rate is exemplified by the attached article. It has to do with the demand rate of the Thai Baht. And these are exchanged in Millions of Baht.

http://www.bot.or.th/BOTHomepage/BankAtWork/Monetary&FXPolicies/EXPolicy/8-23-2000-Eng-i/exchange_e.htm

I use 2 sources before I travel to Thailand. One is X-rates.com and the other is Bangkokpost.com X-rates.com will list major currencies agains the baht. Bangkok Post is an online newspaper and in the far right column down the page it will list the current exchange rate. Both are similar and is subject to change. They are always close to the rate I can get at the exchange booths in the airport. The best rate consistently has been at the airport.

Good luck.

well i am in thailand and the rate here if you give them US$ 50 and 100 bills your get about 33.26 baht to the dollar. For travel checks you get close to 33.45 baht to the dollar. This is the on shore rate. the off shore rate is what you get in the usa about 29.80 but it goes up and down like a yoyo.
