I wanted to argue with the non believers who said this area is belief/opinion so I looked it up and they are correct in saying belief and opinion fall into the same category in the dictionary and thesaurus so see, I am honest, BUT, FOR A CHRISTIAN, Believing in God is all about TRUST, and it is like if you fall backwards would you believe someone might catch you or would you trust someone to catch you ?????????/ I'd rather have trust myself, like I do in God.

Actually, they're not really the same.

"Opinion" has to do with value judgements, and deal with questions where there is no "right" or "wrong" answer.

"Belief" involves holding certain things to be true or factual -- often in the absence of evidence to back those assertions up.

You're right, salvation requires more than just "believing." The problem is that our English language doesn't have a verb form of "faith," so our English translation uses "believe," such as "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you'll have eternal life." You have to have faith in Him.

Good for you Wendy. Don't give up that trust in God, and yourself.
