You have to send the dog to a vet as soon as possible.
But while the vets are still busy and every ER is not available:
Don't leave him under the sun, put him indoors.
Do not use harsh soaps or shampoo as you bathe him.
Do not put anything unnecessary for awhile, like accessories (might irritate his skin more), powder, fragrance spritz and things like that.
Give him clean water.

Sounds like the s/sym of Demodectic Mange/It begins with red irritating sometimes oozing sore around the face and on the body.(Red Mange) Go to the feed Store in your town and get something for Red Mange. You can dab it on or dip him. Then get him to the vet for a skin scrapping on Monday ,he can scrap the area and look at it under the microscope and know for sure ,right there within minutes.Treatment is costly and daily for life.If it is this type of Mange it is hereditary and you will need to have him neutered because it is passed on to babies he may have ,If tDisease is not treated it can be deadly. The skin will rot and ooz.It is a terrible disease. If this turns out to be this type of Mange be sure to contact the Breeder and inform them that your pup has this Disease.Oh they sould already know it because one or both parents will have this Disease and should never be bred under "any" circumstances, however people trying to make money will breed these dogs anyway just to make a dollar! It is disgraceful and should be against the Law.Unfortunately people are still doing this knowing that this Disease sometimes doesn't rear it's ugly head for sometimes 8-10 months old.So they can sell what appears to be a healthy pup that only gets sick several months later. Many people will tell you that all dogs have a tendency to have this on their skin normally , which is not true to the extent this is a Disease that is never cureable(only treatable) for life.and the medication will have to be given every day for life. And Ivermectin is high!!!!!!!Take your baby to the Vet ASAP and hoprfully I am totally wrong but it sure sounds like you are the victum of a scam or a sorry trick.I hope I am wrong but from experence this is exactly what it sounds like. Please let me know what the Doctor says .You may e-mail me ,just click on my icon Name .Good Luck and god Bless you and your Baby!!!!

Did the red go away?
Did the pug have any other symptoms?
In case it's an allergic reaction, you could try a 25mg Benedryl tablet to see if that helps. My vet said it's ok to give a dog a 25mg Benedryl, so that's why I suggest trying it.
You should take a photo of it. You can go to some online vet-chat websites and with a photo online, or emailed, you have a better chance of getting some help that way.

Could this be tear staining? I know that the tears can stain the folds under the eye. If your that worried about it then the distance of the closest Vet ER that is open should not even be a worry.

Try this until you can get him to the vet. Use baby wipes to clean the folds and then apply an antibiotic ointment or at the very least some Vaseline. This should help protect the area from getting dirty.

sounds like he could have gotten into something that he shouldnt have causing this reaction. You didnt mention if it was bothering your dog or not, or if it was just red.
You certainly need to get him in to see the vet today. Or at least call them to ask them their thoughts. It could be something simple like a "heat rash" or something more involved like an infection.
Good luck.

If it were my dog I'd head over to the vet and sit in the waiting room until they had a cancellation or opening.

He probably has a skin infection in the folds on his face, he'll need antibiotics and maybe an anti-inflammatory medication. He needs to go to the vet, ASAP!!

I would call your vet and tell them what is going on and see if there is anything you can give him, I know onetime my dog was having an allergic reaction and the vet told us to give her a child's dose of Benadryl and just to keep an eye on her, so it never huts to call and say "Okay, here is what is going on, what do I do??"
Good Luck to you

you could ring the vet thats open and ask for advice, take him and risk him being sick, or try cleaning it yourself and applying a cream like vetsnovate to it. dont know if you can get it in a pet shop, but its like Savlon for people, then take him to the vet on monday.personally i would risk the car journey
