I recommend you read C. S. Lewis' book "The Problem of Pain." He develops his reasoning in a far more thorough way than space permits here. One of his points though is that a good God could not leave his fallen creation without some sign, a flag of warning that something has gone wrong with the program and that we need to discover how he may have addressed this situation. Only an evil deity would let his creatures go comfortably to the judgment with no red flags to warn them.

ur serious? and asian? thought ya'll were a little smarter than this.God is good but He is always working for the greater good. Earthquakes are meant to shape the Earth as it evolves. This existance is variable and has to change to survive. There are many devastating things that are a necessity. If God is good why did he kill the dinosaurs? To make way for a superior race. Earthquakes also kill keeping the Earths population mediated. Since there are more and more people these days we notice more and more deaths and more and more catastrophes...God cares about the individual as much as He cares about the future.

Earthquakes are a natural phenomenon that releases potential energy into kenetic energy from the Earth's crusts. Earthquakes did not do any harm when people respected the plate boundaries and did not build near them. However, society has placed more emphasis on development and money, and less on risk. We continue to build near faultlines, along the hurricane-prone coasts, and along flood-prone rivers, while ignoring the threat or minimalizing it.

There is a great book titled 'Acts of God: The Unnatural History of Natural Disaster in America'. We cannot blame God for our own undoings (including the 'fall of man' in the Garden of Eden, which brought sin, death, and destruction into the world).

Oh no! God must not be good. You people are ridiculous! Who said earthquakes were bad? That's just how you understand them to be. I know you will not understand this but here is a pearl anyway: if there was no death, there could be not life. I guess what you think is good is that everyone lives forever here on earth with it's limited resources? Death has to occur so you can live. Maybe you don't like how it happens, so what.

Maybe earthquakes are a good way to get minerals up to the surface. I am sure if you research it, you will find some good in them.

You're implying that God's goodness depends on creatures not suffering or going through hardship.

He has proven the ability to stop natural phenomenon. Why doesn't he do it then? Why do earthquakes happen? They occur because we asked to be left alone. Because our first father stated "I would rather die for all eternity than worship you. I don't want you around. We don't need your protection."

So God said:

"Done."

Kind of like "lord is all forgiving" yet created a hell. Doesn't that contradict itself?
