You should definitely make sure it has enough water and food. Maybe a couple bowls of each. I know you said someone was coming by but I wasn't sure how much so putting enough out would be good.
Put a radio on low. Maybe on a classical music station. Or any station really. Put a shirt or some article of yours nearby where your cat sleeps a lot. It will probably take comfort in curling up in it.
Make sure the person watching him stays for a bit to give them attention (petting & playing).

As everyone else has said, make sure to have an automatic feeder and waterer. My boyfriend and I were out of town for a four-day weekend last weekend and a friend of his stayed at our house to take care of our cat and dog. I even left an extra litter box in the basement for the cat to use (and which has apparently become her favorite - more privacy). If you have someone coming over to check on the cat, make sure they know the ground rules for the animal. Unfortunately, I didn't make it clear and think next time I'll look to board her instead. When we left, I made sure she had enough food to last until we returned home (she's a big cat and is a pig as it is, she doesn't need anymore). Well, they decided her food needed topped off (without tightly putting together the whole contraption - resulting in food all over the place while getting ready for work this next morning as it came apart when I picked it up - and the same happened with the dog's food). She is not allowed upstairs...apparently they thought she needed free reign of the house and didn't check to see if she left any presents upstairs. She did. Apparently a few days before we returned home. Not a pleasant smell. Make sure also that your cat has plenty of toys to keep her occupied.

As long as some one checks on her She should be fine just leave plenty of water and food out.Make sure her box is clean when you leave and if someone will clean it every couple of days she will be happier and may not choose to use another area of the house.Make sure no windows are left open as she will escape through a screen. She will be mad at you when you get back and treat you with contempt but it will only last a day or so.(at least my cat did when I left her for 4 days)

The advice left so far is what I do.I have left my cats alone for a few days up to a week. Close off any rooms that you don't want the cat to go in (as they may get destructive or Territorial) and remove any breakables. My cat knocked over a vase with flowers, pictures, and nicknack's last year! This year she did much better. It won't be unusual for your cat to snub you for a day or two or hide when you come back. Mine did that the first two times I left them alone. They are just getting you back for leaving! LOL

Have a friend, someone the cat is familiar with stop by once or twice a week. Have plenty of food and fresh water accessable. Have lots of toys in places the cat can get to so she can be active and keep herself occupied without destroying your stuff. Have a radio turned on so they have constant sound. Good luck!

have a friend or neighbor check in on it once every day or so to check foo and give it some company. You should not leave a pet home alone for more then a day, it is not fair to the animal. You should board the cat it will be cared for. Leaving it alone for a week could Gert you in some trouble with animal control to if you are reported.

Your kitty will miss you when you are gone no matter what. Please have someone give love attention as well as food and water and a clean litter box. Maybe get a few new toys to leave out when your gone. Also leave something with your smell for kitty to sleep on. Maybe a night shirt or your favorite blanket.
