They probably don't read the answers. They're simply too stubborn. Their view of evolution/big bang is a strawman, they were taught a version of it that has flaws, and they'll always cling to that because they want to believe that it really is flawed.
I think it's helpful though, if not for the asker. I've learned a lot at least!

I was 15 in Grade 10 before I even heard of Evolution.
I was 40 when I became a Christian.
Those 25 years in between had me looking in a lot of places for answers. I lived in many countries and saw the ways of different faiths.
If you are seeking and if you are ready the answer will come.We never know when or where. The eyes and ears must be ready to see and hear. I have said this before. "When the student is ready, the teachers will come"
Some may be here on Yahoo.

Well...Entertainment is always a useful function in Society. And you have to admit that the Creation\Natural Process debate provides some very entertaining Q &A's.
If the askers were the only people reading them, it would be an exercise in futility. You can't teach someone who would fly an airplane into a tall building or vote for George W. Bush to defend his monopoly on the answers to everything.
But, the rest of us are enlightened, informed and amused.
Did you know that at least 3 Ear, Nose and Throat clinics were firebombed by people who thought they were performing abortions?

well
sometimes I learn something... like the other day footprints (i think) posted a link about an article about a micro germ or something.... but the whole thing made my head hurt. But I did learn something
anyways I am always learning new and interesting things from my friends/contacts of different religious and faith backgrounds including my atheist friends/contacts.
with that being said... sometimes I wonder if I insult them or hurt their feelings with some of my answers or when they read my answers if they are just banging their head against the wall saying that rp she is a hopeless case. BUT out of all the ugly emails I have received (and believe me there have been a bunch!) I have only received one from an atheist - who wasn't a contact - and the rest were Christians, telling me I was going to hell.
In general I think it is good that we can share our different thoughts and opinions. I think it is bad when we get nasty and ugly. I think it is horrible when we can't tell the difference. And sometimes the Internet lets us think we can be nasty and ugly because we aren't looking at someone face to face and we are alone, but truly we aren't.
(oops sorry got off on my soapbox.)

It's because this is not an institution of higher learning. This is a place where piety, sobriety, scholarship and debate are unfashionable. Just throw pies at them...or ask me, Glyphdoc, Todd, Father Al or Annabella (and a few others). We will give it to you straight. Everybody else has pâté en croûte at the ready...
