So many people are like: Gay people are wrong.
How the hell are they wrong and why is it your business when its not you?
The common reply is: Its against Christianity.
Then I ask: Where?
Where in the bible does it say gay people are bad or wrong? I'm a perfectly straight guy but it sickens people to hear people slander a group of people who are just like you and me except for their relationships, which they plainly can't help.
Any comments on this?
Also I would like to say that another common argument is that the penis and vagina were designed to be put together, two penises were not (same goes for lesbians). Why does everything have to be sex related? Sure, lots of gay people do it on the other side, but then again just as many don't have sex and are just together for love. Either way, it is no-one's business.
Then they would say: In the bible.

Oh yes, I also previously heard it did say so in the old testament. It also says a lot of other outdated things which can be plain ridiculous.

Oh, and personally, I do not think God is going to send good, hard working people to hell just for being gay, which really harms no-one unless they're a rapist/pedophile (which either way is pretty much the same as straight people).

To Meg M: An anonymous survey showed plenty of gay people abstain from sex. Don't ask me for links because I no longer can find it (I did look for it for you, though). But when it comes down to it: whose business is it?
And thanks for the answers so far, given me stuff to think about. As a straight person, I try to convince as many other straight people to think differently (at least a bit less negatively) about gays as possible - these arguments and information are a great help.

Christians, for some reason, are obsessed with sex and circular arguments that are designed to let no one else win. They feel that what two consenting adults do in their own bedroom is akin to, and worse than, murder. (I know, those are some pretty screwed up priorities!)
It does say in the Bible that homosexuality is wrong. (Lev. 18:22, Lev. 20:13, Rom. 1:26-27) It also says that rabbits chew a cud, that it's an "abomination" to eat pork and that it's okay to sell one's daughter into slavery to get out of debt. Draw your own conclusions;)

Cheers Brother, get ready for the "God made Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve" LOL!
Seriously though I sometimes wonder if gay people were the majority they might do the same thing, but who knows?
All I know is that I am gay and born this way. People who doubt that are not me so they would not know.
Most psychologists tell you that your sexuality develops at a young age of about 3 or 4 years. I certainly remember the feeling as far back as 2 years old.
Religious folk will just never accept something which they have been told is a sin. This is why I do not believe in sin, only what is right and what is wrong.
Truth is light is love.

The Bible doesn't say that homosexuality, or homosexual people, are 'wrong'.
There are a few passages that prohibit *specific sexual acts* between *specific people* in *specific circumstances*, but nowhere is there a blanket condemnation; God doesn't hate gay people, or he wouldn't have made so many of us.
(Those people who cite 'Sodom and Gomorrah' really need to read the Book again; the reasons for the destruction of these towns are clearly listed, and homosexuality ISN'T among them, but these are; rebelling against God, LACKING IN KNOWLEDGE, deserting the Lord, idolatry, engaging in meaningless religious ritual, BEING UNJUST AND OPPRESSIVE TO OTHERS, being insensitive to the needs of widows and orphans, committing murder, accepting bribes...)
[Oh, and "Candi"; when, and how, did you 'choose' to be straight? And does that mean you might one day 'choose' to be gay instead?]

If you consider where the condemnations come from and the type of people who make them, you can understand.
Starting with religion:
Religion can be seen as a tool for manipulating an ignorant populace. Rulers throughout history have known this. From a ruler's viewpoint, it is favorable to have as many believers, making as many babies as possible. That means he has a greater cache of slaves to tax. That's why all major religions forbid homosexual acts as blasphemes against god. One purpose of religion is to manufacture and control as many believers as possible.
Then, there is the social stigma created by pure homophobia. That is usually experienced by pre-pubescent males. As males become aware of their budding sexuality, they might feel repulsed by homosexual thoughts if they are straight. Naturally, being young and immature, their reactions to homosexuality may be aggressively negative. Unfortunately, many people in the modern world are cases of arrested development, and never mature out of this stage.
It takes education and maturity to understand and accept the natural phenomenon of sexuality. Religious brainwashing prevents education and also prevents maturity.
An uneducated brainwashed immature person cannot fully grasp the concept of nature, evolution or scientific facts. So, they use their dogma as a shield from logic and continue to persecute homosexuals in the same manner as nasty stupid reactionary children.
My point is simpler than all that really...
Just observe who makes these erroneous judgments. Notice how stupid and insecure they are.
I have noticed disproportionately high ratio of fun-dies are very ugly too. It is impossible that the consistently high correlation between their physical ugliness and their rampant religious retardation is a coincidence.
Really... just look at them the next time you get a chance. It almost makes you feel sorry for them. If it weren't for all the suffering such idiots bring into the world, we would feel sorry for them... almost.
As an interesting and hopeful, positivistic side note...
It appears that nature has evolved a self-limiting system for Christians; Because many of them are so psychologically disturbed, they quickly lose whatever childlike innocence they have as young kids, and develop into really ugly vociferous nasty adults. Hopefully, their grotesque physical appearance and excremental personalities will reduce the likelihood of them breeding and eventually, their stupidity will become extinct. It already appears that in southern Bible-belt states, degenerative diseases are quickly decimating inbred populations there.
It would be interesting to see a map that shows a correlation between degenerative inbred ugliness and bible thumping. I have traveled around the United States extensively, and I can assure you, the south has more inbreeding, and more bible-thumping. That correlation seems obvious too, though everyone is afraid to say it. I'm not though. Just see for yourself.
The correlation between ugly, ignorant, stupid people and religious believers is astonishingly high.

It's in Deuteronomy. It says that lying with another man as one lies with a woman is an abomination, just like eating a cheeseburger, a lobster, or wearing polyester.
The fact that the bible has a negative stance on homosexuality can't really be argued. What's annoying is that some people have decided to choose this one thing out of a laundry list of supposed sins to vilify while ignoring all the others. Their bible admonishes them not to judge as well, but so many choose to ignore that too.

People are always going to be like that. I'm straight and that's my choice. Everyone has their own choices to make and your right its no one else's business. People, however, are still going to judge others. And as for those christians complaining that its in the bible, its also in the bible that you shouldnt judge other people because their day of judgement will come.

"...why is it your business.." hits the nail on its proverbial head. That's what I can't understand -- how can anyone sit in judgment of another person's (consensual, adult, harming-nobody) lifestyle?
The religious writers did not include homosexuality in their Top Ten (Commandments) but did include adultery. No one wants to talk about adulterers being sinners, burning in hell, etc., probably because most of the gay-bashing Christians are adulterers.

sometimes science can trump the bible. the pope agrees that evolution is real and psychology states that no sexual orientation is healthier than any other.
