I have my own form of religion cause i cant go to church they always give me the same $hit ''your going to hell if you cant pray'' ''or your going to hell if you dont confess''
''your going to hell if you dont go to church'' ''not being a christian puts you under satans control'' and then get angry at you for disagreeing its retarded what ever happened to the regular church goer now you cant walk up in to a church without the bible thrown at ya. BUT i mean dam if thats all true then thousands of other religions go to hell if though some of them are better like buddhism wich is true peace and simple life with no sin or pressures from the outside world and they dont harm another person so if they go to hell then The Creator sucks

You learn quickly, grasshopper.

All kidding aside, these are the things that drove me from Christianity. Any religion that threatens people who don't agree with them is a cult, in my opinion. (For what it's worth. Which isn't much. But still.) Lots of people don't realize it, but saying "You're going to hell" is a threat. It is not a threat on a person's life, but rather, a person's soul. If you believe that people have souls, this is worse than a person saying he's going to kill you.

I have had passages in the Bible pointed out to me showing what a loving god they have. And then I point out passages in the Bible that show he's a psychopath. They accuse me of taking it "out of context." (Yeah, maybe I do, but so do they! What's good for the goose should be good for the gander.)

When it comes down to it, religion, especially absolutist religion, is a great way to control people. If they go around saying, "Choose this religion if you want to, it's not for everyone, though," they wouldn't have that control. But to go around saying, "Come with us if you don't want to end up burning for all eternity," then they get more followers because no one wants to burn forever! That's why absolutist religions (like Christianity and Islam) have more control of politics than Buddhism, paganism or even atheism.

Christianity is a religion that believes that their way is the ONLY way. All religions are not this way. When Christianity started it was forced onto the peopl by the governments of the time. Thats way pagans wer persecuted ans witches were executed. Christianity has a long history of violence. Even today they will force themselves on you. You can't to Wal_mart without someone stopping you and preaching and praying for you.

Essentially they pressure people to convert because they think that their way is the only way. Convert or burn in hell. Its really silly if you think about it but unfortunately its the truth, Those that know the truth about Christianity and still push it are those that use it to cause conformity and have ulterior motives.

Its really a sad thing. I think that anyone that calls themseleves a Christian should have to study the origins and history of the religion in order to be apart of it. (and I dont mean read the Bible) I think if more people did that there would be less Christians.

Not only Christians do, some other religions pressure you even more....!! (don't want to open a can of worms here....)
I have turned from Protestant to Buddhism 20 years ago, and there is pressure too, you know.... What you do in this life will effect your after-life.
This is what (any) religion is all about: Tell the simple minds in "brutally" clear words how to behave as a responsible part of a society.

Early brainwashing is a hallmark of religion.
They browbeat, coerce, threaten and terrify children into believing horrible lies. That social pressure continues through the vulnerable teenage years and into adulthood.

The reasons zealots use this pressure are many. Most likely, they were also bullied into these medieval beliefs themselves as children. They are unhappy with there own lives and feel they should control other's lives. The list goes on, but it all boils down to this; No matter what the religion, Muslim, Christian, whatever, they are all insane!

You are correct in calling them cults. That is exactly what they are. Christians don't see that they use the exact same modus operandi that cults do; brainwashing techniques, ego-disassociation, threats of violence and torture, morbid mythology of the dead, blind obedience etc.

Keep thinking for yourself. You will be much better off and the world will be better off too.

Not all of them do that.

This is the longest sentence I ever saw, lol.

Calm down. I think you are going to the wrong church.
I've never seen a Christian throw a Bible at anyone.

It'll be ok. Take deep breaths.
I hope you feel better now that you ranted and screamed.

First, whether you believe in God at this point of your life, it's smart to not turn others away or rip on God. You will face Him one day no matter what your choice, your worldly actions.

Also, any religious person..not just Christians...should know it's not for us to judge. You do not have to pray in a church to go to Heaven. Jesus said that we must believe in Him and that He came to free us from sin.

While that is a lot for most to grasp, the Bible also says that all sin is the same. Another very heavy, deep thing to grasp. The only unforgivable sins are not believing in God & killing yourself.

I don't go to church at all. I am a Christian. (Note, there are lots of kinds of Christian. Catholic is a Christian too, but they are probably the ones telling you that if you don't confess in a church, you will go to Heaven. Not true if you read the Bible.)

I don't go because there are so many false people there. Ones that feel if they go to church they are forgiven. Not so. Many that feel you must have money and give it to the church or you will go to Hell. Not so. Many that .... I could go on an on.

There are lots of good churches, I'm sure. There are lots of good Christians just as there are lots of good non-believers and bad ones on both sides.

Just talk to God in your own place, your own way.

We are supposed to look to Him like a loving Dad. Not 'thee shall blah blah" and "thine is my blah blah".

You can be driving and say "Thanks for the great parking space, God!" He loves praise of all kinds. Or "God, I'm scared. I don't want to talk about it right now. Please help."

My favorite for you would be "God, if I'm wrong about my post or my feelings, show me." Then leave it at that.

God bless you!

i find it really heartbreaking that you have come across people who talk to you like that and call themselves a Christian.
I am a Christian;
and to be blunt.
Going to church does not make someone saved; it does not mean that they are going to escape hell just because they attend a sanctuary.
I believe that if you accept Jesus as your personal savior and the son of God who came here lead a sinless and blameless life and in return Gave his life (horrifically and brutally might i add) to save you from your sins.
then; and only then will you go to heaven.

but i am not one to shove the bible in someones face;
i am not one to tell someone if they don't go to church then they're going to hell.

and i'm upset that many of my so called "christian brothers and sisters" are giving you that impression.

we are not all like that.
we SHOULDN'T be like that at all.
i apologize for their behavior.

God does not allow people into heaven because of their good works. It is not a matter of works or good deeds, but making the choice to follow God or not. Jesus' sacrifice was so that all men could have the opportunity to come to Him, without worrying if they were "good enough". Then, those who accept the Gift of God will learn good works as obedience to His word (written on page and on our hearts) out of love for Him.

People all have the choice to accept or reject God through Jesus Christ. If they reject God, then they will spend eternity apart from God - hell as we know it - dark, lonely, complete separation from God. Those who choose to accept get to spend eternity with God, in direct fellowship along with others who have made the same choice.

Granted, there are many portions of Biblical precepts Christians need to brush up on, especially when it comes to conduct and personal approach. But, consider that most of the individuals hearts are in the right place - they want to see you come to know God as we know Him.

We wouldn't preach our message if it wasn't important to God that we should.

Absolutely. There are hundreds of religions, and just about all of them say they're right, and if you believe otherwise you're screwed. Personally, I just shoot for atheism/nihilism to take myself out of the long, frustrating religious equation totally.
