This is an excerpt of a Y/A user opinion:

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

I do not agree that atheists are far more clever than believers - I think that atheists merely THINK they are. Actually, they are foolish to put faith in what they perceive to be their intelligence.

How do you reply to it? What are you thoughts?

In general, atheists clearly ARE more clever than believers.

The pattern here is pretty consistent. An atheist raises a valid argument against belief or a consequence of belief, and the believers quote Bible verses, post incoherent rants, state that they disagree, call the atheist names, and/or make an illogical argument. The atheist and other atheists point out that the believers' responses were ignorant or illogical, and the believers complain that atheists always call them ignorant or illogical.

Relativism runs rampant among the believers, as they expect their unsupported claims to be treated as equal with atheists' well-supported claims.

Unfortunately, there are enough atheists here who don't make the distinctions appropriately (for example, attacking faith, or honest, considerate statements from believers like the one immediately above this post), and that gives honest reasonable believers reason to believe that their best efforts are in vain as well. I'd really love to see that kind of thing end, but I guess it's too much to expect either side to be completely pure.

I'm an atheist, and I don't even like discussing the subject, let alone feel or act superior to a believer. I don't back up my disbelief with intelligence, nor do I try to combat belief with it.

I believe whoever wrote that just plain dislikes atheists, and is very prejudice towards them. I have no doubt there are solid, arrogant atheists that think because they refuse to believe in an all-powerful being that they're far more clever, but that's hardly enough to outline every single atheist, and that's also how I'd respond to it.

There are multiple ways to answer this question.

Personally I believe that Yes they are more clever for a season. That is why God gave us free will, so that we have a choice whether to believe in him or to lean to our own understanding. Seasons come where we believe and the rains come and storms hit and life seems hard (for believers and non believers alike) we face financial hardships, family issues, pains and joy. What I see as the difference is that when I place trust in my intellect usually I am wrong, but when I place my trust in God things turn out to the best. I have walked both sides of the fence, railing against God and all he stands for and believing that he is my Lord and Savior.

Just a thought.

I agree, Atheists have their own religion, they claim they do not, but that is not the truth. They put their faith in their educated minds, not realizing just how little they really know. It is not that they don't believe in God, they just do not want to live by his laws, there for freeing them to do as they please, or at least in their minds. All creation knows that there is a creator even atheists. I do not believe in Buddha, I do not care what a Buddhist does, I do not fight Buddhist, I do not argue to have Buddhist removed from society, I just do not care, an atheists does, why? in their heart they know better, they just don't want to admit it.

Simple it takes a thinking mind to realize that serpents do not talk. A thinking mind can realize that a man can not survive in the body of a whale for three days. A rational mind knows an *** does not speak. Challenge me if you do not believe, go up to an donkey and ask it a question and see if it responds.

Well its does seem smarter to have faith in Gods' Intelligence , than our own... kind of like the Three Stooges, when one said , " I 'm kind of negative about the positive, but I am positive about the negative...". though it is not quite accurate..it is along this line the Alpha Theist must wrestle the Divine Mind but all along missing the Divine Sacred Heart in the process.:(((.

I would say that I simply ask for a reason for believing something before I accept it.
Millions of people have believed in Apollo, Zeus, Thor, Mithra, Osiris, etc. based on faith. It doesn't seem to be a very reliable guide, does it?

An atheist is someone who doesn't believe in God. So they have abandoned the concept of faith, which is belief in something you can't explain.

Some don't believe in anything. Some only believe in what can be proved, the so-called "scientific" approach. Some here refer to atheism as though it were an alternative religious system - which is contradictory.

Atheism is a negative philosophy - they don't believe in God. If they substitute something else - it's always interesting to see what.

But it's not faith.

Wow.
I'm not sure the reasoning behind that statement.
I'm thinking that the idea is to not reason or try to use intelligence to determine what to think. Because its foolish.
Wow.
I'm not sure how else to take that.
Its a very bizarre sort of non-logic.
How can you reason with an answer like that? Don't waste your time.
