Hi folks, I just bought a Philips DVD player DVP3015K and it worked perfectly fine in the appliance store, no complications whatsoever. I just brought it home and tried to hook it up (and yes, I put in all the cables correctly) and the screen is totally distorted. The user manual says that "there will be a distorted picture on your TV at this state until you turn on the progressive scan mode on your TV." My TV doesn't seem to have any progressive scan mode! All other trouble shooting was to no avail. There's a menu on the screen where you can select your settings, but that's hardly useful if the screen is distorted and you can't read it. Is there any other (corrrect) way to do it? I desperately need help to get this DVD player working. Thanks!

I googled it some more and it seems that it may have something to do with a so-called progressive scan mode. If your TV does not have a progressive scan mode too, does that mean that a DVD player with progressive scan mode would be incompatible with it? Or is there any remedy for that?
