You're not allowed to participate in any surgery until you can spell it correctly.

And, you must have an MD or DO degree. A pharmD is not a medical doctor, any more than a PhD is. If you want to perform surgery, you have to go to medical school.

If you want to prepare medications for use in the OR, a pharmD is fine. You just cannot administer them.

You need to have a medical degree (M.D.) prior to going to have a specialty in Surgery- as a Surgeon. If you have a degree in pharmacy, you cannot just take a course in surgery and do surgeries. There are surgery courses however that you can attend but it won't qualify you to do surgeries thereafter; it would just be a course as a basic knowledge on surgery which would include the the peri-surgical care.

If you want to do surgery go to medical school, not pharmacy school.

Pharm.D's can supply the anesthesiologist with medications to induce unconsciousness...but they don't really do more than that in a surgery.

A Surgical Physician Assistant can assist in surgery.
