In another question, a god-believer responded:

--------------------------
If we believers are just a bunch of deluded idiots, then tormenting us is kind of like tormenting a retarded child. but there are people here who are searching for the good stuff, we have the hope of an afterlife, and while I will freely admit that some of the atheists are far more clever than some of us believers, there is something pathetic and wrong about non-believers tormenting believers. We believers are trying to figure things out---y'all non-believers need to get your own life. hope it works out for you. what kind of weird twisted psychology impels you to spend so much time in R&S?
What are your issues? What do you get from this?
--------------------------

How do non-believers reply:

If he/she really wants to experience torment, try being a gay person and experience the "love" from those promoting the Anti-Gay Agenda! At least he's not telling you that you need to become an "ex-atheist" in some unbelievable conversion process like the "ex-gay" scams!

As a Christian gay man (another source of torment to this particular believer, I'd venture), I have no problem with non-believers asking questions and leaving comments here. Some of the thoughtful questions are great to ponder; the silly, 3-word comments I just overlook. As far as I'm concerned, everyone is welcome here.

As an atheist i can only answer for myself, every so-called christian,Muslim or bud dist are out of touch with the modern world, and should be put on another planet where GOD and his kind do actually live,as we on this planet know that we humans evolved from a humble OM EBA,then in time it changed its appearance, and became an APE.
A few eon's later it developed a brain, walked upright and
became man HOMOSAPIEN. Now although the present thinking of the christians is that Adam & Eve had a lot to do with bringing man into what he is,doesn't that mean that all
christians no matter what their race or colour are practising
Incest,as they call each other Brother and Sister. At least us Atheists can be honest and say that we do not practise
something desarsteadly as what you are,and did christ not
say thou shalt not commit Adultry or bear false witness.
so my fine feathered Christ believers what are you going to do now,"I know" ?you are going to make all the excusses under the sun and blame us,as thats what you usually do.
Christians are unworthy of the title of being the follower's of the truth??

I'm old enough to remember a burning cross being used
both as a symbol for racial hatred and religious adulation.
Heard about the USA Blue Laws? I recall the Church was against Lightning Rods first sold by Benjamen Franklin because they denied Wrath of Heaven to strike as God wills.
Don't get me started on the Spanish Inquisitions..................
Go cry me a river before taking the non-belivers to task
about questioning Bible Thumping.

I dont overstand why you kristians make such a big deal about people dissin yr faith? If some1 takes H.I.M name in vain in a real conversation i will ask them politely not to offend me,if they choose to ignore me and carry on i dont go away in a corner and cry. There is no 1 and nothing that can shake my faith in the most high,if i felt defensive or tormented i would seriously have to question my beleifs, and belive me as a Rasta i have to put up with a lot more derision and insults than most other religious people have to deal with.Water off a ducks back is the phrase i think

Did you ever think that atheist/agnostic/others are looking for interesting debate on the subject? From others of various beliefs?
After all, its not like we could go to a church to find like-minded people, thats the territory of the believers.
Where else are so many people with opinions on the issue congregated in one area?
We like the idea that these things can be talked about.
Believers aren't the only ones with interest in religion and spirituality. These subjects affect us all!

When the believers stop tormenting the nonbelievers this might be a point but I also think people should have all the facts rather than just dogma before they decide what to believe.

second - whose tormenting anyone? if things are that bad maybe they would be better off in a xtian chat room where everyone agrees with them.

i thought the whole reason for y/a was for the exchange of ideas and debate.

i have never understood the persecution complex some people seem to have...

well first of all, this person is NOT a child. only their belief is childish. and all this good stuff that they say they do in the name of religion can equally be done without a belief in god. ask him to provide one instance where a person of belief has or can do something that an atheist cannot.
as for their attempt to find the truth i'd have to say they are doing a piss poor job. when the first page of the "holy scripture" is a lie. such as the ignorance of evolution by claiming spontaneous creation of man on the same day along with every other animal.
we are here on r&s because its fun, and because religion touches on so many subjects of our lives. such as politics, science in schools, medical research including stem cell research. the condumnation of condums in africa subsiquently leading to millions of deaths by aids. how can we ignore the impact that their faith is making? right now we are in a religious war (america) we have zionists killing muslims. muslims killing muslims. christians killing muslims and muslims killing christians. are we to sit back and let them have their self fofilling apocoliptic prophacy?!
