I was wondering if the future car Hyundai Genesis was a new name for the future Hyundai Tiburon.

Totally different vehicles, Genesis is the ultra luxury sedan that will compete with the E series and 5 series cars if not S/7 series German luxury cars. Genesis is due out in Spring 2008 and is the next model up from the Azera luxury sedan.

The new Tiburon will finally give Hyundai a sportcar instead of just a sporty car. The 2010 Tiburon due in 2009 will be able to compete with the 370Z/G37, Mustang and Camero if they do have a V8 version. There's very little info on this car so far other then it will be RWD and come standard with a V6 of unknown size (hopefully a brand new more fuel effecient motor).

I think both of these cars could be a bit of a risk as Hyundai is really upping their engines and with gas prices unlikely to come down and no Hybrid models coming (as far as I know) Hyundai is a bit behind others in fuel economy.

No, there will be a new Tiburon with V8 engine & RWD, but it is not the same car as the Genesis, it will be a 4 door sedan with a V8 and RWD, as opposed to the 2 door Tiburon.
