Bob P and Debbie G are right! I had the previledge of being invited to attend a naturalization ceremony while in Kuwait. One of the guys that attached to our unit received his 'papers'. Now he can pay taxes like the rest of us. LOL

There were about 60 or so members representing mostly the Army, but also Navy, Marines, and I think there was a couple representing the Air Force being naturalized. They were from about 3 countries in Africa, Russia, Philippines, Yugoslavia, Hatti, and a good handful of other countries.

The guest speaker was a highly decorated Filipino Army Green Baret that served in Viet Nam. I think he works at either the US Embassy in Kuwait, or the Embassy in Germany.

If you can meet the requirements (mental and physical) you can join the USMC. Many before you have done it.

Good luck!!!

No you do not have to be an American citizen to join the Armed Forces. Once in they will provide assistance in getting your citizenship. Until that happens some duties maybe off limits to you due to the need of a security clearance. I'm biased due to being an prior service Marine so the best service to join is the USMC because if your joining to learn to not only fight but to be a responsible man or woman then the Corps is they way to go.

That's funny about the AFN spots - they are really bad. According to these spots though, you can definitely be in the US military and not be an American citizen. One of the benefits to being in the service is you can apply for citizenship and all the costs are waived.

you must be a legal permanent Resident with a Green card in order to enlist. the military will not help you emigrate to the US nor will they help you get your Green Card.

im pretty sure you can still enlist without being a us citizen, you just wont qualify for certain jobs. then after a period of time, you can apply for us citizenship for free if you are still active duty....i watched AFN commercials today

As long as you are legally in this country, or you go to your local US embassy or consulate, you can enlist.
