If you are referring the amnesty in the USA for illegal immigrants, then there was not one.

If you are thinking about one in the UK, there is not to be one.

There has not been an amnesty in the UK for failed asylum-seekers. The Home Office is reviewing all the old cases to see if in practice people can be removed or allowed to stay, but they have said that they hope to look at all the "legacy" cases by 2012, so nothing is going to happen overnight. On the other hand, we all know that in reality most of those who came before things were tightened up will end up staying here, but it's just too politically sensitive for the government to admit it.

If they are refused entry they should be frog-marched onto the first plane out of the UK.
