I surely surely hope not. I mean, anything is possible, but given that we live in the information age and the REAL facts regarding Scientology are so readily available, I've got to believe that the vast majority of sane, thinking people will be able to find out how dangerous Scientology really is before they become it's victims.
There are multitudes of people who have suffered tragic experiences during their involvement with Scientology. Anyone who cares to know can read about them here:

Here are more "bad experiences" with the cult including an illegal plot to infiltrate the government, brainwashing techniques, mind control camps, attacks on critics, and DEATHS caused by Scientology doctrine and members:
● Operation Snow White – Under this official program, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, & theft of documents in government offices. This program constituted the single largest infiltration of the United States government in history. Among the 11 prominent Scientologists convicted of this conspiracy was Mary Sue Hubbard, the wife of Scientology’s “prophet”.

● Operation Freakout - Their campaign of sabotage & violence against Paulette Cooper, the writer who published her research & findings on several cults, including Scientology. Scientology’s official plan: to frame Paulette, ruin her career & reputation & get her either incarcerated or locked up in psychiatric confinement.
The official plan: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/Krasel/cooper/frk1.html
Her book: http://holysmoke.org/cos/books/scandal-of-scientology-cooper.pdf
● Fair Game - the Scientology policy detailing how the organization may confront & handle critics & perceived enemies. Here is a direct quote: "Enemies may be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed.”
http://www.xenu.net/archive/disk/fairgame.htm
http://www.planetkc.com/sloth/sci/Fair_game_ord.html
● Physical & psychological punishment: Scientologists who "break the rules" while members of the "Sea Org" must subject themselves to the Rehabilitation Project Force (RPF), which includes regimes of harsh physical punishment, forced self-confessions, social isolation, hard labor and intensive ideological indoctrination.

● Brainwashing & mind control: Scientology exerts control over its members by means of typical cult tactics, including but not limited to controlling information about internal doctrine & criticism of the organization, severely restricting social contact outside the cult (including the practice of “disconnecting” with any family who question the credibility & trustworthiness of the cult), creating an “us against them” mentality by villainizing a specific out-group (for Scientology, it’s psychiatrists), & claiming all those outside the cult are unenlightened.

● Violent Kidnapping - Lisa McPherson was a Scientologist, was involved in a car accident & resultantly became mentally unstable. She was kidnapped from the hospital by agents of Scientology, held against her will, refused proper psychiatric treatment & allowed to STARVE TO DEATH.

● Tragic Murder - A CBS “48 Hours” special on Jeremy Perkins, the mentally disturbed son of Scientologist parents who, because of the Scientology doctrine of opposing psychiatry, refused to put him on the anti-psychotic drugs that would have stabilized him & prevented him from killing his own mother.

uhmmm, hell no! First of all, Scientology was created on a BET. Mr. Hubbard bet his friend that he could create a religion that would make a ton of money. Obviously he won the bet, but he admitted his "religion" was a total piece of fiction, like his books. Yet, millions of people practice it every day.
Christianity was not begun on a bet. It was based on the miraculous power of a man who claimed to be the son of God. It gave people real power and power to know their Father in Heaven. Not to mention the fact that it's eternal Truth, not a science fiction fantasy piece created by an occultist who wanted to make cash.
Shame on you for making such a brash and ignorant comparison! But if Scientology does end up being mainstream, I am moving to the Galapagos islands and chillin with the turtles for the rest of my life.

I doubt it, Scientology is a "made-up" religion. The brain-child of L. Ron Hubbard. It was created as a way to become popular. The religion even pays celebrities to endorse the religion. It is a combination of pop-psychology and self-worship. This is completely different than Christianity.
Christianity is based on the reality that God came to earth incarnate as Jesus, in order to serve as the perfect sacrifice. So that we would be spared the punishment for our sins. Early Christians suffered much persecution for their believes; many even died, instead of renouncing their faith. Even today, many Christians are persecuted, and even marked for death, throughout the world.
I have never heard of a Scientologist who died, defending this religion.
God Bless!

No, simply because we haven't got another 2000 years, plus the fact that it's a false religion. But then I suppose religion means rules and standards. That's why christianity is different, and to be honest, christianity has been going on since the beginning of time, but as jews. Jesus Christ came as the fulfilment of the Jewish messiah. Unfortunately some of them were blind to see it. Beware, these are the last days. There'll be many false prophets and teachings. And it's getting to the point where the best newspaper to read is the bible, as many things that are happening now are foretold in the bible.

1900 years ago the Gnostics knew the Christians were to uptight and mislead to last then the Christians used those pacifist Gnostics for target practice and torture experiments for 300 years.
The Scientologist will have to get pretty violent to kill the killers. Just because your ancestors survived doesn't mean they were right or holy just brutal. That's why Christ told his people how bad crap was going to get so they would be ready to live underground for 700 years.
In the name of Sophia and her consort Christ...
Blessed Be!

The author of whatever book Scientologists follow outright said that the book was fiction.
Why would something that someone wrote as fiction and said they wrote it as fiction would become mainstream ever?
