What does this tell you? I think it means absolutely not, but I would like to hear from others.
"Some people believe that a woman in Islam is regarded as inferior to man since the Quran says (what means):
"Men have one degree above women." [Quran 2: 228]
In fact, to understand this Quranic verse, you should see another one, related to the issue in question. It reveals the wisdom behind this concept.
In the Quran it also says (what means): "Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allaah has given the one more than the other and because men support them from their means." [Quran 4:34]
This verse implies that it is a man's duty to support his wife, and not the reverse, but this, in no way, makes him superior to her.
In fact, the rights and responsibilities of a woman are equal to those of a man but they are not necessarily identical.

Since men and women are not created identical, they have different physical and emotional qualities, jobs and privileges. This does not mean that women are inferior.

Men are not superior they have different responsibility ... Men cant bear children and neither do they have the patience and strength to go through Child's birth ...
I can simply say what will happen if there are two governments running the same country side by side ... they would fail miserably .. that is Why Men have been give the right to run the and nurture the family monetarily and Emotionally its a woman who does the nurturing ... A man is not superior in Allah's Eyes for being a man ... its on ones Act and Degree of Love towards his Creator ... and submission towards Him that Makes him superior in Allah's eyes only ...
Allah made these rules so he can have a harmonious society and a strong Family life to have a stability ....

Islam is natural Religion.
Islam gives more responsibilities to men. And Makes men responsible to provide protection and needs for life.
Woman has different responsibilities, just according to her Physique. Most important, to train Future of society, I mean Children.
As person both has same status but responsibility wise different.

Further,
Islam does not allow men to exploit woman, and take advantage of woman. Instead provide protection with dignity, Do not mix geographical and other pagan cultural bad practices adopted by some Muslims as well. That is not part of Religion. Qura'n very clearly gives a fair and dignified status to woman . While in other scriptures ( Including Bible) this is vise verse.

Yes Mr " C J " ( Answerer above me) you are right, you made your point, and that is you misunderstood message, from what you quoted from Qura'n and Hadis.
Yes Prophet said very rightly People like you using woman as evil, exposing them exploiting them, in front of every one and using them for your entertainment. Fighting for to win woman for pleasure. Yes you are right you made your point my dear.
Very first time in History of religion Qura'n gave inharitance right to woman, according to responsibilties in society.
Man is allowed to marry Four woman if Man can justify in all aspect, but not allowed to have tensor some time hundredsof mistresses as practicess in so called western world or un-Islamic world.
Clean your eye glasses, you will be able to see clear.
If you will touch food with dirty and poisenious hand you will make food unhealthy, so Clean your heart and mind and then read Qura'n and Hadis.

Look - women are to be honored - but; woman was created from the rib of Adam.
A man being a head over a woman is supposed to be a loving thing and not a position to beat and punch - but; to teach with love and kindness so that the children will also grow up in peace.
I hope to teach you one day ...

Verse 34 ( an-Nisa ) - says the husband should urge his wife to mend her ways, refuse to share her bed, and admonish her by beating if she disobeys him.
The husband has the right to file divorce, but the wife does not.
A man can marry up to 4 wives in Islam, but a woman can marry only one.
A man collects more of the inheritance than a woman can.
A man can marry a non-Muslim, a woman cannot.
[4:34] " Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great." ( Nothing brutal about Islam, is there? )
The Qu'ran in Sura 4:34 says:
"Men are managers of the affairs of women because Allah has made the one superior to the other." (Maududi, vol. 1, p. 329)
The Ha'dith are the reports of Muhammad’s actions and words outside of the Quran. The two most reliable collectors and editors are Bukhari (d. 870) and Muslim (d. 875).
This Ha'dith shows that the majority of inhabitants of hell are women.
Narrated 'Imran bin Husain:
The Prophet said, "I looked at Paradise and found poor people forming the majority of its inhabitants; and I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women." ( This means that Islam thinks the majority of those in Hell are women. )
Narrated 'Abdullah bin 'Umar:
I heard the Prophet saying. "Evil omen is in three things: The horse, the woman and the house." ( Muhammad thinks women are an evil omen. )
Of an inheritance, The Qu'ran in Sura 4:11 says:
"The share of the male shall be twice that of a female" .
The Quran in Sura 2:282 says:
"And let two men from among you bear witness to all such documents [contracts of loans without interest]. But if two men be not available, there should be one man and two women to bear witness so that if one of the women forgets (anything), the other may remind her. " ( This means that the testimony of a woman is only valued at half the testimony of a man. )
I think I made my point.
