Sounds like he has an impacted anal sacs. Anal sacs are two sacs filled with smell brownish liquid that is normally excreted with feces. If this does not happen to your pet, impacted anal sacs is the result and your dog could be scooting around like you mentioned.
You need to squeeze the impacted anal sacs to release the browinsh discharge. Best to visit your vet and ask him to teach you how to do it in future as this could be a long term issue for some dogs.

I hope it's not anything serious if it is not anal sacs issue.

It is actually a myth that dogs scoot when they have worms. The most common cause for this is the swelling of the anal glands. There's no way to tell over the internet, but I'm guessing your dog has an anal gland that has become blocked. You can actually feel them on the outside after a while. Get it checked out soon, because if it goes too long, it can absess.

Until the doctors appointment get a warm, damp washcloth and hold it to his rear. It might help sooth it a little bit.

Good luck!!

I has a cat who has something like this. Her anal sacs were blocked, they never really said why it happened. But they had to drain them. Is there another vet you can go to? 4 days is a long time because sometimes this can get infected. I'm sure it's an unpleasant experience for him already.

Annal gland full or rupture
I'm sory but not all dogs as my sisters dog just had to have hers removed due to this and noticed teh lump from it healing on teh inside seh never chewed on her feet or front legs. She has always cleaned her self down there so didn't think anything was wrong.
