i love fishing, mostly flats but offshore is fun too. mainly because you are usually with your closest friends or family and you can just relax. even if you don't catch anything, it is still enjoyable just relaxing. and when you do catch fish it's really fun reeling them in.

I lived on the Canadian border of Minnesota/Canada: Very Isolated, the nearest neighbor 38 Miles away, 37 lakes within fifteen minutes away. We lived "off the land" for several years due to jobs.
I moved on "the thumb" of lower Eastern Michigan, twenty minutes from all the fishing ports of Lake Huron, the best fishing I have ever seen.
I love the lakes, the water, it's peaceful tranquility. Up North, it was the animals it brought out, the black bears, the deer and Moose. Here it's the fish, the water.

For me, when I fish, in a lake or river I watch the wildlife that is all around me. Most of the time I am with my brother or alone and we just take it all in. Of course I would like to catch more fish, but even if I don't that is fine. It is also a stress relief. No tv or music blaring, no phone ringing, okay I do have a cell phone but I put it on vibrate. Half the time I fish and hike where there is no service anyway.

people enjoy these things because it gets them away from the city and all the responsibilities that go with the daily grind. The peacefulness of the water and the surroundings of nature. The possibility of catching fish for lunch/dinner or just catching ans releasing. It allows you to concentrate on things that are far away from the daily routine.
