The bible clearly states that these people who practice pharisaic rites are not Jews.
"But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God" (KJV)

Good point Josh, I would like the reference. But it follows, these people are false rabbi's if they reject Christ.

Jim, thanks for the response, but I didn't mean that. What I was talking about was people calling modern hebrews who do not server christ, Jews. I was not saying the law was bad.

Iain, no. Because what I am saying is one is a Jew by SPIRIT, not by BLOOD.

Interesting question, the more because Jesus said:
Mathew 21:42-44
Jesus said to them, "Have you never read in the Scriptures:
" 'The stone the builders rejected
has become the capstone;
the Lord has done this,
and it is marvelous in our eyes'?
"Therefore I tell you that the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people who will produce its fruit.
He who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."

"The bible clearly states that these people who practice pharisaic rites are not Jews."
This is *definitely not* what the bible says. What it says is that a Jew is not a true, or godly, Jew by merely following The Law. It does *not* say that following The Law prevents someone from being a Jew. Of course, the verse you mentioned is part of a discussion explaining why *gentiles* who become Christians do not need to be circumcised first. It has little to do with being a good Jew other than pointing out that it is a matter of faith, not *mere* obedience, that gains the favor of God. Prophets in the OT made this same point.

** People should be careful who or what they support or they might carry the blame (SIN) along with those they support !!!
'chosen people' -- Its a MYTH. God chooses no "group".
God chooses the righteous individuals based on good deeds and good intentions that are done for God, and not for the ego.
-------
This is the outcome of self-righteous arrogance based on such myths as 'chosen people':

(Warning! Graphic photos as you scroll down. Don't view if you have not the stomach, though this be the truth and should be known - see earlier comment **)
"Say: "O you who follow the Jewish faith! If you claim that you [alone] are close to God, to the exclusion of all other people, then you should be longing for death - if what you say is true!"
But never will they long for it, because [they are aware] of what their hands have wrought in this world; and God has full knowledge of evildoers.
"Behold, the death from which you are fleeing is bound to overtake you - and then you will be brought back unto Him who knows all that is beyond the reach of a created being's perception as well as all that can be witnessed by a creature's senses or mind, whereupon He will make you truly understand all that you were doing [in life].
[Quran 62:6-8]
-------
" Those who believe (in the Qur'an), and those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Christians and the Sabians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work RIGHTEOUSNESS, shall have their reward with their Lord; on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. "

Because jesus said so. He said that the the rabbis sit in the seat of moses and that you have to listen the pharraces(rabbis). It was only the later apostles who changed.
