It's the media.

For every event they have to find two sides, and get them arguing against each other. That way they hope to create controversy and sell more advertising.

I'd be willing to bet 90 per cent of people could give a rat's.

I know I don't care, no-one I know cares, it's not like they're bonging on out the back or Parliament House now, so why would I care about something they did when, 30, 40 years ago?

Anyway, just recently there was a poll that showed that something like 40 per cent of Aussies have smoked pot at some time, and that's only the ones that admitted it, so it's a bit hypocritical to carry on about it, really.

Cheers :-)

The current cabinet seem to be falling over themselves to confess to smoking cannabis at university. What you did 20 -30 years ago at university is NOT an issue in today's world. If you confessed to doing hard class A drugs that may be an issue but a spliff or two over 20 years ago is not an issue.

if she resigns then so should the chancellor, the Transport secretary, the Deputy Labour party leader among others.

It is all totally ridiculous I agree.
Though I am not a religious person, let me quote "Let he who is without blame, cast the first stone". I bet most people smoked cannabis at uni, but here they are slagging off these MPs. How two faced is that? Everybody has a skeleton in the cupboard unless they are a living saint!

It is so they smoked it uni so what! Lots of people of tried things like that in uni. It would be different if they were still smoking it now though.

Smoking cannabis?!?

That's just an example of a Cabinet Minister who really cares about her students. She wants to speak to them on the same level, and show she cares about their concerns...

If she was smoking crack, however...

She needs to become Mayor of Washington D.C....

I agree. We applaud alocoholics who have given up drinking or drug addicts that have given it up, but a minister has one joint 25 yrs ago and she is asked to resign. I believe its more of the media causing a storm about it. It wouldnt stop me from voting for a particular party. In fact I bet the youth of today would be more enclined to vote for them!!

I'd be more concerned if she'd been to Uni and NOT smoked a joint!
