My 2 prominent calibers might would desire to be the 30-06 and the .40 5 Winchester Magnum. The 30-06, like the guy above me mentioned, is an exceedingly versatile around. it is utilized to seek countless diverse pastime and is an exceedingly flat taking photos cartridge. so far, all that i've got used it on is white tail deer in Minnesota. have not been waiting to seek lots else. The .40 5 Winchester Magnum is a handgun cartridge. it is rather valuable (out preforms the .40 4 magnum in each and every classification), and is greater versatile than the .40 4 magazine and .40 4 particular. you would be able to make reloads that circulate from launching a 200 grain bullet 1900 fps to approximately 1100-900 fps. it is growing to be a wildcat around, and not many people know of it, regardless of the undeniable fact that it particular has a foul chew and can cease exceedingly lots something you prefer to point the barrel at. it is my new backup searching firearm. it may well be used for inner maximum secure practices in the progression that I see a submit to or some thing that pops out of the comb all of unexpected. i'd desire to apply it for a everyday searching gun if i needed to because of the fact it relatively is been know to take white tail at a hundred and forty yards from a stand. i don't think of the guy to took it became sane, yet he mentioned it dropped in one shot.

My two favorite calibers are, of course, the 30-06 Springfield, and the 7mm Remington Magnum. Why I like these two calibers are because they perform excellent on the deer I shoot and kill quickly and do not cause suffering. And, if you have one of these two calibers, you can hunt anything in North America. I prefer my 30-06 in a Savage rifle, and the 7 Mag. in a Winchester Model 70. I have used both rifle models on deer and are beautiful rifles.

Favorite rifle caliber would be 223, in all four guns. Remington 700, AR-15, Encore handgun, Contender handgun.

Favorite Handgun caliber is a 38 spl, S&W 15 revolver, its old but boy is it fun to shoot 50-150 yards, Its neat to hear that Bang -long pause- clang of the steel plate.

I would ahve to go with the .17hmr and .223(5.56mm)
The HMR is a great piece of kit for shooting rabbits at up to 230 yards and foxs up to 120yards and for a rimfire thats extrodanary.
Caperble of 2550ftps and very acurate. The onley downside is that with a 17grn balistic tip, they are prown to wind drift due to there lightness.
The beauty of the 223 is they are also acurat and caperbel of bringing down a fox at 400 meters as well as been a centerfire there easy to relode.
What makes the 223 a great hunting gun is the cheapness of the ammunition. A 223 is the equivalent to the NATO round used by the british army 5.56 mm making it wide sperad over hear.
Unfortunatly me been british means i can not experament like you other from the USA and Down Under ect,, we have the tightest gun laws in the world

For rifles, 348 Winchester/Model 71 wins by a nose, with 7mm Mauser, 9.3x62 and 450/400-3" close behind.
For handguns, 44 Special nudges 45 Colt.
These are classic, amazingly effective cartridges that have passed the test of time, and though they may not have the numbers in ballistics tables, they don't need them for those whose proof is in real life use.

My favorite rifle cartridge is the .358 Winchester. I consider it to be the best of the medium bore cartridges.

In handguns, my favorite cartridges are .357 Magnum, and .44 S&W SPL. Bot can be had in small handy to carry revolvers and both can be loaded to truly impressive power levels.

In a hand gun I prefer a .357 in a revolver, in a semi-auto I'd rather have .45

Pistols:
Revolver = .357 magnum because it also fires .38 specials (two guns in one)

Semi-Auto = 9mm because that is what I am most accurate with when firing (just started firing .45 ACP, so we'll see if it changes)

Rifles:
.223, I'm the most comfortable and accurate with this round.

7.62 x 39mm. Cheap, reliable, good close distance killing power. I know it'll be available when I need it, and I know that it will fit in my AK-47s when I need it.

If a foreign enemy invades, or there's a major insurrection, I would use in one of my AKs.

If I just want to go to the range, my favorite gun for this caliber is the SKS.
