I am a Singaporean and in this city state getting old is a sin. No employing company would want to take you in because been old equates to higher hidden cost to maintain you and expected lower productivity unless you are a aparking star.

I had the same problem when I was 55. Luckily, I had prepared for that day. My wife was working full time in the business we started 5 years earlier. I did find employment afterwards but it was outside my country.

If you are interviewed this is what you can say about your age. In the interview focus, on alleviating the company’s concerns. Demonstrate that your skills are current, your thinking is dynamic, and your enthusiasm is strong by using examples of recent successes. Emphasize your extensive knowledge and connections in the field, but explain that you recognize the need to continue to grow and learn.

Peace and blessings!

First try to look your very best, rested, any excess weight gone. Then clean your resume of age clues, I leave off any jobs before 1990, I used to list back to 1978. I didn't finish my degree until I was over 40 so leave the date on the degree.
If they guess your age like they might mine since I finished college in 1991 they could guess 45 without seeing me, my hair isn't very gray just about 2% gray so I don't look my age that way. They might guess I was 50 but aren't likely to guess 59.
If you can give them clues like dates of employment that lead them to think you are 40 you can probably pass for 45 or a 40 that looks bad for your age.
They don't ask during the interview here, after hired you need to fill out insurance papers but by then you have the job.
Don't try to pass for 18 you will look stupid but try to pass for a indeterminate age maybe in your 40s.

I don't think you should hide your age. Even if you're able to land a good job without having a compnay find out how old you are, they will likely find out eventually. And if you mislead them to think that you're younger than you actually are they may loose trust in you. I think there are many things that you can do at your age. If you look, you'll find something that fits you and accepts you for who you are.
