Did people really turn into pillars of salt?

If so, why doesn't God punish people like that today to show us that He's real?

If not, than why can't evolution be true (because if people didn't literally turn into pillars of salt, then the world didn't have to literally take a week to be made).

No yaabro, why doesn't God do things that are obviously done by God, like turn people into pillars of salt. If that happened in front of people you wouldn't be able to deny something was going on.

Yes she did turn into salt. But God does show you himself everyday. Look at the stars, look at babies being born. When you go to sleep, who's in control?

Oh, but they did turn into pillars of salt and Jonah really did get swallowed by a whale. What is wrong with you? Why can't you see it? You must be headed for hell, which, by the way is also real . . . if you want it to be. :)

Basically, people can't stand the idea that they, and what they've put their faith in, whatever that may be, might be based on some ancient fictional character's opium consumption.

To each their own though. If it gets you through another day, then hey, believe people get turned into pillars of salt, that Jonah got swallowed by a whale and that all who don't believe as you do end up in hell.

And good point!! Literally!

Cheers!

It would help if you had spelt inerrancy properly?

Certain parts of Genesis and other "history" books are obvious myths and legends and not literally history in the modern sense of the word.

Not all Christians accept biblical inerrancy.

As for the story of Lot's wife turning to salt?

Geological evidence suggest there have been seismic disturbances in the area where Sodom and Gomorrah probably were.

Some one who had never seen a volcanic eruption or a major earthquake might think the fallen body of a woman covered with volcanic ash had "turned" to salt!

You dont have to take the "Myth" sections literally!

Its the 21st century! Balance faith with reason and avoid the extremes of both atheism and supersitious literalism!

Faith doesnt mean accepting things without proof.

Faith to me is based on a personal experience of the Divine!

St. Paul and Peter both warned their congregations not to be obsessed with origins and myths! However Paul also wrote of the need to test everything in Thessalonicians!

Logic is a tool. Science is based on evidence.

Evolution is to me the process of creations continuously unfolding!

How would you like it if God turned you or one of your loved ones into a pillar of salt anytime you/they displease Him?
If He punished every sin on earth with sudden death, no one would be alive anymore.
The reason we all still live is because God is INCREDIBLY PATIENT with us, waiting for us to turn to Him.

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

Jesus said, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son." John 3:16-18

NOW is still the time of God's FAVOR, when He is patient with us. But time is running out, only we don't know when.

Salt: one woman. Days: 6 ( not 24 hrs.; but epochs, as "in my grandfather's day; or the day of the dinosaurs)
Blatant miracles: God is not working with them today because he desires those who search for Him with an eye toward faith- not incredulity. He answers those who are sincere and "knock", asking to come in.
Those without real desire to "see" Him, will never do so. It's a gift for the sincerely hungry.

Odd, but unless it's the passages which they claim condemn homosexuals, those who claim the Bible is innerant have special permission from God to pick and choose, overlook, and/or ignore many things in the Bible.

How about if before we go about finding the meaning of life and creation we first locate the "check spelling" icon and actually use it?!?!

Public Warning on every copy of the Bible:

"All the 'truths' in this book are shameless lies".

This should be printed on every copy.
