Some of these things have to make the adult, reasonable mind wonder. I once read a statement that said, "I would rather have a mind open to wonder, than one closed by belief." There is a lot of wisdom in that short missive. Unfortunately, christians and muslims don't have that. They are structured by their belief systems to only consider what their dogma allows. I find that quite sad.

Well, before I answer the question directly, let me sum up ALL of Paul's writings that were considered canonical:
1. Jesus lived, died, was crucified, and rose again.
2. Paul's life was transformed.
3. Everyone should stop squabbling over the small stuff, and work out their salvation for themselves.
If one reads ALL of Paul's writings, they find that these three things are a theme throughout. In many of his letters, he talks about disagreements within churches: Which foods are "clean" and "unclean," which day is the Sabbath, whether it should be mandatory for a woman to wear a head covering while praying, speaking in tongues, circumcision, marriage, slavery, et cetera.
In the passage you mention, Paul goes on to say that it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things. Let every church decide for itself. If that is their practice, so be it.
As far as why Jesus is always depicted with long hair, I believe that's been explained very well by previous answers. That's how he was painted because the models had long hair.
Jesus's hair was actually probably a little longish. I'm not sure how much time He would have had to cut it, in between performing miracles and preaching.

No you are just taking random Bible verses out of context. This was a letter written by Paul to the church in Corinth if you read 1 Corinthians 10 and 1 Corinthians 12 you will see that he is writing letters of instruction and correction...I would say that when he is saying Long hair it is meant almost in a way that is feminine such as a man that is trying to pose as a woman.. Jesus is depicted as having long hair because we didn't have cameras and don't know what he actually looked like...he is also portrayed as Blond hair and Blue eyed, yet he was born in the Middle East and was of Jewish descent...people twist things

Practically every man during Biblical times had long hair and a beard. Barbers and razors were few and far between. Those who study the History of Civilization can have a better understanding of Religion.

properly i've got confidence it has to do with God and having the ability to perceive in a actual way, Gods human beings and the remainder of the countries. The portrayal is in simple terms that a portrayal. it incredibly is accessible that their hair in those days could of went to their ear lobes or by their neck. yet no longer comparable to a woman. think of of this it incredibly is a sort of a sacrifice on a guy or woman's behalf to do such issues for God.

I truly wonder if that was a Roman influence when Corinthians was written, because the Romans favored short hair for the military and governing classes.

Because at the time that they started to paint pictures of Jesus the models at the time had long hair. And the image has just seamed to stick.

I was told by a Christian that because I cut my hair short, that I was going to hell. They told me that it showed my subserviance, obediance, and property of God's (who I don't believe in) or my father (who was abusive...why should I be owned by him?) or my future husband (and women are never to be owned by a man!).
I like guys with long hair, I think it looks good. Stop worrying about Jesus's hair, who knows what people thought when they were painting those pictures? If God is good, he won't care what you look like but who you are inside.

How long is long? At the collar? On the shoulders? Middle of the back? To your ankles?
If I decide to paint Jesus as a black man, does it make it so? If I give him a soul patch in my work of art, does that mean he really had one?

Yeah, Jesus would not have had long hair as it was considered a disgrace back then.
