Like, when you see that the leaders of our country believe in an imaginary man in the sky and heaven and hell and demons and the like, are you amazed that people that are that smart and educated believe in things like that? I just can't understand it sometimes.

'Amazed' isn't really the right word. I think it's curious and scary that they think a heinous Jesus-God who drowned, tortured, and slaughtered millions (more than Hitler), conspired to have his own self/kid beaten and executed, and repeatedly commanded his followers to hurt and kill thousands of other people, is 'good', 'moral', or 'loving'. Makes you wonder what other sadistic, cruel stuff or people they'd support.

I am amazed that my family members willingly believe I will go to a firey place for eternity because I don't share their beliefs. And that they think that's ok.
