Everyone is born an atheist. Babies don't worship anything but the nipple.

No one is born with beliefs. They are caused by influence. As people become more educated and start to think for themselves, they have a tendency to stop believing in god.

Romans 3:10&11 says "As it is written, there are none righteous, no not one. There are none that understand, there are none that seek after God."
The truth is that no one really cares about God until God puts a new "heart" into them. A lot of people think that they love God but they are only pursuing the image of the God that they want to worship, the one that appeals to them. The real God decides how He will be worshipped and He is responsible for showing us how.
Ephesians 2:1&2-4&5-8&9 " As for you, you were dead in your transgression and sins in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world...But because of His great love for us, God who is rich in mercy, made us alive in Christ even when we were dead in transgressions--it is by grace that you are saved. For it is by grace that you are saved, through faith--and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God--not by works so no one can boast."
Anyone who brags about their great relationship with God has nothing at all unless it is God himself who gave it to the person. No one has faith in God unless God is the author of that faith.

Something you are born with--you simply can't believe in a concept until you are told that it exists. Babies don't believe in cars, dogs, horses, roads, cities, etc. until they are told what it is or shown. Same with religion, it is a taught concept.

And what about all of the non-Christian families in other countries?

Belief is something that is instilled in us. Humans are the only mammals on earth who are aware of their mortality, and the only ones who cannot deal with it. Humans cannot deal with Not Existing, which is proven that each and every civilization on the planet, from it's beginning until now, has it's ideas and beliefs of what happens when they die, and who created them. Not one of those ideas throughout history was 'humans cease to exist'. Many people just can't comprehend that. One logical assumption would be that humankind was created perfect, therefore it was not natural for them to die. Adam and Eve were in fact something like immortals. We are descendants of them, so even to us, death seems unnatural and horrible (when in fact in nature it is a given and a recycling process that allows the 'circle of life' to grow).

Listen to me ... the Bible is clear on this.

1. EVERYONE knows the truth about God. It has been revealed to each of us in our hearts, our minds, in the world around us, etc. This is called general revelation.

So, in THAT sense, ANYONE who doesn't believe in God is in fact guilty, because he has SUFFICIENT evidence to convince him, but in essence rejected it.

2. With the fall of Adam, EVERYONE is now born in bondage to sin. As such, EVERYONE enjoys sinning against God. ENJOYS it!!! Sin is in fact sooooooooooo much fun to the sinner that NO ONE would just up and choose God over sin on his own.

3. See number 2. THINK about it! Then consider ...

God chooses some of us to be saved from our sins. For us, He literally pulls us away from them! We are the ones predestined to believe and so we shall believe.

The others? BACK to number 1. They had sufficient evidence to believe in God but chose not to. So it is that all are guilty, all are deserving of God's divine wrath, His divine justice, but some get of us get His mercy instead. The chosen ones get mercy and the rest get justice.

Make sense?

I think it is more in our upbringing. Either we somehow acquired an independent mind that let us believe in logic and reality or we were not indoctrinated as children.
