Can someone explain anything behind the "First Born"?

in the trailer for the upoming game "Clive Barkers Jericho" it talks about how people are in search for the "First Born" and also in "The Reaping" they talk about a "First Born". Are they simmply referring to the first born son? are they referring to a cult? a religion? any help would be much appreciated

JM is correct, but in this case it probably signifies something more. In some mythology and fiction, the "first born" is often the most powerful because they are the oldest and first (vampires, for example). In these stories, being first born usually implies ancient power and experience.

It refers to the first born child in a family.
