I know what you are talking about. I have been there. I don't know what to say other than to give you my testimony.
I was saved many years ago when I was a teen. Not long after I was saved the church I attended closed it's doors. (low attendance) My parents did not find another church to go to for some time. Beening a teen and not having the influnence of the church I soon fell victom to the sins that temp youth everywhere. It was several years before I came back to the Lord. At that time he pulled me back into his perfect love. I repented for falling away and turned my life toward serving God. (I was in my 20's at this time)
I received my first Bible around this time, the first one that was ever given to me. (I had one that was one of my sisters that I just read while at church before.) This was very great, I had a very strong interest in the Word of God. And now having a Bible of my own I was even more interested in studying. I read it all the time, morning and evening, I started turning off the TV to read the Bible. God had began to open my eyes to his word and I could see things that some preachers could not even grasp. This gave me great faith I did not doubt God for anything. What I prayed for God gave to me, what I desired the Lord done for me. I was blessed.
My life changed, I had a different job. This was an interuption in my Bible study time. I noticed that my spiritual man was becoming weak. I did not have the faith I once had. Things I had been convicted of before I began doing, not thinking anything was wrong with it. Through the less faith sickness was able to enter into my body. I had fallen away, somewhat. I still had went to church but my personal relationship with God had greatly deminished.
What I had to do, and it don't always come as easy, was go back to the things I done for God before hand. Read the Bible, and pray again on a regular basis. Jesus was not leaving me, I was leaving him. I had to return back o my first love.
Revelation 2:4&5
4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.
After doing these things and picking up where I left off. Or rather where I fell slack. I began to see the Lord moving for me again and I could feel the spirit like I had before.
I was not out in sin, I still loved the Lord and still went to church. But I had allowed myself to go slack in the Lord. When I returned back to the things I once done and would seek the Lord as before I was brought back to where I had been and growing stronger than where I was before.

One thing I have learned over the years as a Christian- we cannot base our relationship with Christ on how we feel. You can return to your first love, and that could mean more bible reading, or it may mean just telling God you want to come home. One day I wake up feeling so on fire, and then I will start feeling tired and that can go out so fast- one thing I remember is this- the power we have is NEVER of ourselves. the power comes from God- we need to stay connected to Him, through bible study, prayer and fellowship with other Christians. Remember Jesus does not expect us to always stay up on the mountain top with Him- He wants us to go down into the everyday valleys, even when we don't feel like we are on the top of the world. Run back into His arms - His arms are already open.

Most Christians go through this at some point in their journey...I have gone through it more then once....my advice to you is get back into His word...read it even when you don't feel like it...and know that he is ALWAYS there even if you don't feel it....I believe He pulls away at times just to see if you will still stay faithful, and to make you stronger in the faith...in any case, know that He is there, that He loves you with a love that you can never imagine...and no matter how you feel, He is building a home for you in Heaven and you have something to look forward to....and God Bless....

Welcome home, FATHER GOD'S arms are open and ready for you .
HE never left you nor has HE forsaken you. HIS words are truth "we all fall short of the glory of GOD".
Luke 15:1-7
The Parable of the Lost Sheep
1 Now the tax collectors and "sinners" were all gathering around to hear him. 2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, "This man welcomes sinners and eats with them."
3 Then Jesus told them this parable: 4 "Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Does he not leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? 5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders 6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, 'Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.' 7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
And also read Luke 15:11-32 The Parable of the lost son.
When I have walked away from GOD and HIS word, I fell hard, but GOD was always right there. HE kept knocking at the door of my heart, when I finally opened that door, I saw where it was that I had wondered off away from HE WHO KEEPS ME SAFE.
I fell to the floor and cried from my heart, I felt so guilty, because I was. I repented from all I knew I did against HIS goodness. I ask HIM to show what I could not remember, and HE gently showed me. I repented from these mean things I did do and say.
After a bit of time passed, I felt light, I felt free. I thanked my GOD for loving me even tho I did not deserve HIS forgivness. Then suddenly a calming peace and the feeling of complete love came over me.
I was exausted, but true freedom comes from GOD.

Human will always make mistakes. Thats why we need Jesus.
I have been in your position.
But then I relized that the one that make me feel so desparate was evil spirits. So then I asked them to go away from my life in the name of Jesus.
It happened not only once. It often happened to me when I make mistakes.
Then I will cry to Jesus and ask Him to keep stay in my heart, and ask Him to make me strenght and peace.
And by reading the bible will help.
6:10 Finally, build up your strength in union with the Lord and by means of his mighty power.
6:11 Put on all the armor that God gives you, so that you will be able to stand up against the Devil's evil tricks.
6:12 For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age.
6:13 So put on God's armor now! Then when the evil day comes, you will be able to resist the enemy's attacks; and after fighting to the end, you will still hold your ground.
6:14 So stand ready, with truth as a belt tight around your waist, with righteousness as your breastplate,
6:15 and as your shoes the readiness to announce the Good News of peace
Jesus bless u

Know that you are always righteous in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:21) and God the Father puts you in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:21) so you are all the time in Christ at the right hand of the Father's throne (Mark 16:19). To refresh your intimacy with God begin to worship, pray and listen to Him. You will feel peace and joy in His presence. To know Him better study His word and attend church to fellowship and minister to others. God never leave us nor forsake us. Bless you.

Trust in God, he's always there. Even if you think he's just in the background, He's really just waiting for you to make your moves and hoping you'll trust in your good instincts and trust in Him enough to do the right thing.
You already know that when you do the right thing, you feel better in yourself. Just like when you know you're not doing the right thing, you feel uneasy and things don't seem to go right for you. I guess it comes down to your choices and how you want things to go in your life. At least when you have God on your side, you know you have a friend to help you when things get tough.

Your feelings are the worst barometer you could ever rely on for a test of your faith. Feelings fluctuate too much and are as unstable as water.
Just get back into the Bible and spend a lot of time in prayer both speaking to and listening to God speak to you through His word and His Spirit.
Keep your focus on Christ and nothing else you will be alright.

I think when we feel just 'lukewarm' in our faith, it is because we went on our own paths and forgot to follow God. have you ever journaled.... written to God each day.... ? it helps to get 'on the right track' in renewing that relationship. Also, find a devotional that you can get started with... it will get you 'back in the Word' of God.... by jumpstarting the day with Him....
remember in times like this, that God IS still there... but it is us that have moved away.. not Him... the only way to be filled with hunger is to seek Him more.... and cry out to Him for answers.... people will just give opinionated 'stuff' rather than what God can give
Be strong and step out in Faith ... God is waiting for you!!!

Try doing something for others, whether in your church or community. It will make you feel better. Join a church or go back to your church and either start a new program, or join a program. find out what your church is lacking in, or the community. I just recently went through the same thing. I started a hospitality ministry in my church and a new believers bible book marking class. prouzanwilliams@yahoo.com
