does it work? or is the fitted sheet just too messy looking?

No but I got some off sized sheets for my queen that must have been mismarked and were huge. I just tuck the bottom sheet in like my mother used to do before fitted sheets. The larger top sheet is just fine.

Sheets For Double Bed

I don't know why, but it seems like I always buy bigger sheet sets than what I'm supposed to, but yes it will ork, just tuck it under your matress and secure it with a safty pin on each corner. I was fixing my daughters room up and I didn't have a bed skirt so I took a king flat sheet and used it on her full sized bed and just let it drape to the floor, looks pretty good.

I don't know. We use white cotton sheets and use hot water & bleach which tends to have some shrinkage. So, we buy king sheet sets for the queen bed (mostly for the fitted sheet).

My daughter has done it for awhile now... Her queen mattress got water damage where we were living... So she got a double mattress... She's slowly going crazy with the sheets ALWAYS coming off the bed! For days now, she's been bugging me to take her shopping for double sheets. We'll be going on the weekend.
