Girls tend to be more patient then boys in general, and also adults may view girls as being more responsible.

While boys and girls, men and women, CAN do the same kind of work, there are a lot of stereotypes, and there are some things that males femailes do better.
Women can have more attention span, notice things better, are stronger below the waist.
Men can have better stamina, are stronger above the waist.
I have seen successful young lads go door to door carrying the implements of yard work, offering to cut the grass.
Check out RENT A KID
Not to be confused with a movie by that name

some of these kids are not going to be rented
This kind of thing exists in many cities, under a variety of names, and somewhat different rules. They resolve a common problem.
There are strangers who could be harmful to young kids.
There are kids who are too lazy to do good job.
There are tasks only appropriate to kids of certain ages, physical strength & stamina.
Very few people really understand the child labor laws, or how to pay the nanny taxes.
This outfit checks out character references on both.
Some house needs a cleaning,
Some work needs to be done.
A busy person would like for someone else to get their groceries
An elderly person needs some chores done that they cannot manage themselves.
It could be done by one or more youngsters, but only above some age.
The adult that needs the work gets a police background check run on them ... they better not have any record of bad stuff.
So if tehy Ok, Rentakid sends kids out there to do the work needed.
So the kids go to the place & do the work.
Rent a Kid knows which kids were sent where, checks up on them ... did they get there Ok, do they need a ride, did they do the work satisfactorily.
There's follow up to see everything taken care of.
Some people are so happy they give the kids a bonus.
There's lots of odd jobs. Instead of you struggling to find someone who would like to have you walk their dog ... that's a short time occasional, not much money
someone who needs helpers to load a moving van ... here today gone forever
let the people with the work call rent-a-kid then you get work that is appropriate to your age and body build strength

I personally wouldn't want even a girl 13 year old watching my kids unless I knew them very well then it wouldn't matter if it was a boy or girl. I don't know why they want girls instead of boys. You could try the local small business's around the neighborhood and see if they might need some day help or something. Feedstores, farms, resale or thriftshops, things of that nature will usually hire someone for a day or two a week cash just to have someone to do the extra little bit of work that they get. You could also wash and detail cars too.

Girls are generally wired for nurturing and taking care of children better than boys. Nowadays though, people are more afraid their kids will be molested, and it is more likely to happen with a boy babysitter than a girl.
Another work option to consider would be washing cars. I can't go into all the details of how that should be done in this reply, but do it in the shade, dry the car before the water drops turn into spots, and make sure your towels are very clean and NEVER touch them to the car if they have touched ANY dirt ANYWHERE. Dirt scratches and you'll lose a customer. Good luck!

Sorry, kiddo, but folks just don't want boys doing the babysitting these days.
When I was your age, back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I didn't want to babysit, but my parents kept drafting me for their friends. I hated it; never did well with the whole messy diaper thing. >gag<
So...maybe think about selling yourself as a tutor in the school subjects you're good at. Maybe sell yourself as a private coach in the sports you excel at...think about what you're good at and market that. If you sell your parents on it, they can help get the word out to their friends and colleagues.
Good luck and keep that good work ethic; it will take you far.

A lot of parents would be hesitant to hire a teenage boy because they have the idea that he would do improper things to their kids. No fair, I know, but parents aren't required to be fair when it comes to choosing who cares for their kids, they have to do what makes them comfortable. You may have better luck trying to babysit school age boys than you would girls or younger kids. You could sort of present it as being a "big brother", and mention that you could help out with homework, or take them to the park, out bike riding, shooting hoops, or stuff like that.

its great that you want a sensitive job that is pretty hot. But it all comes down to the sexism of the world. Girls are supposed to be nurturing house wives and boys are supposed to be layborers but what ever im just glad i have a baby sitting job, it gives me e=an excuse to put 8 year olds to sleep watch tv for 4 hours and get payed for it. Sorry charlie the women win this one. You have a really sexy personality btw. Already wanting to work, wanting to do a sensitive job, wanting to be around kids. Plus if you look anything like your avatar and livied near me i would sOoOoOoOo date you..

You can mow their lawn, help someone clean out their garage, was their car,or help them wash and vacuum the cars. Some people or most are just more comfortable with a girl babysitting. It has always been like that.. Paper route pays good money here...

Yep, parents don't want boy baby-sitters. I went through the same thing when I was younger. I think yard work is about it. I don't think they hire young people to do paper routes anymore.

I know a 16 year old boy who watches 2 boys that I used to take care of. He walks them home from school, makes their snacks and helps them with school work until their mom and dad get home. Be patient and you will find something I'm sure.
