Lately, I've felt a void in my life, and I started searching for faith and spirituality. I came to realise I dont believe in Jesus' divinity. (It's ok if you do, I will never say you're wrong.) My question is:

Shouldnt the only concern be, when it comes to other peoples' religions, are they good people or not? I've realized that the closest thing I am is druidistic, but i dont believe in a lot of it. But shouldnt the only deciding factor ont he outcome of my soul be if I lived a fulfilling life and served other?

Rex, that's not true. I work with mentally ill people, and i've had quite a few claim to be the savior. But in modern society, we put them on drugs instead of follow them.

i think you are right and it is all about what you do as a person. there religious persons who are mean or untrustworthy and they are not doing what they are supposed to do.i think prayer and worship is to make a person better and the best way to god's heart it to be a good person and love and defend those who need help.

I feel that you are right. But as far as religion goes I am agnostic. I do belive that there is something out there now whether it be God, Buddah or whomever I feel we are not here by mere circumstance. I feel that we should live our lives as best we can according to what we know and continually better ourselves.Whether it be through obtaining knowledge, helping with charities or just making sure we are polite and courteous to those around us. As far as the deciding factor and where we go when we die i personally feel that it is what you belive.. if you belive you have been a good person than when you die if you feel you will end up in heaven you will see that in the last moments as all the chemicals in your brain are realeased and that is where you soul will think it's at.. Kinda off beat i know but i feel it all mind over matter...other than that I am not sure.. I feel you should continue to search for something that has logic and clicks for you... go with your gut.. if it doesn't seem true reaserch it and if all you feel afterwards is more confusion keep looking... there is something out there for everyone... if not ... just live how you feel is right and just...

When you go to Coney Island or Disneyland or Six Flags, do you walk by the ticket booth and just admit yourself for free? Of course not! The rules say that you pay. A lot, I might add! What if you think that these places charge too much? Can you arbitrarily lower the price? Can you walk up to the ticket booth and say, "I'm giving you half what you ask, now give me my ticket!" Again, we say, OF COURSE NOT!

Why is that?

Some people might rail against corporations and such, but at the end of the day, we all must agree that it's their land, their rides, and other attractions, and that they can make the rules on who gets in and who doesn't, and how much admission is. Right? RIGHT?!

Let's say that you and I are hanging around outside the entrance to one of these places and you say to me: "Why do they charge so much? Shouldn't the only concern be, when it comes to admission, are we good people or not?" Let's say that I agree with you. Let's say 100 people overhear you and ALL of them agree too. Tell me ... are you getting in now? Because 101 people agree with you that you're a good person? Or ... are the rules the same as they were before you gathered to try to rewrite them? Can't we all still agree that it's their property, their stuff, and that they can make the rules?

I trust that you see where I'm going with this....

Let's pretend that heaven is just a big game. Under this analogy the Bible is the rule book. If you want to play that game then you have to play by the rules, right? When it comes to matters of rides and elephant ears and coneys and admission prices, they may be the bosses. But when it comes to salvation, there is only one boss. It ain't you. It ain't me. It ain't ANYONE on Yahoo Answers. So, WHY are you asking us if being "good" is good enough? Looking at the rule book, AKA the Bible, it says that no one is good enough. Jesus says, "I am the truth, the life, and the way." Note that He doesn't say that He is A way. Nope, it says in the Bible that Jesus is THE way. So, you delude yourself all you want that there is another road to salvation and that the Bible is lying to you when it says that all fall short of the glory of God. Nah! You're a good person, right?! As long as you're alive, that lie may fill that void in you, but someday ... you'll know the truth. The Bible is not sitting there inviting you or anyone else to rewrite it to their liking, as you are trying to do right now. It is black letter law! It's the rules. Jump cut to your end time and imagine you trying to crash the gate, yelling, "But I'm a good person." As one preacher said, "You may be the best person who has ever lived, but without Jesus, you are going to hell."

So, you want to try to find a hundred people who say that preacher is a liar? I bet that we can do it. But I bet that like the owners of Disneyland won't change their rules for a hundred people, God won't either. This is all His. He can make the rules ... and HAS! Obide by them and live or don't and ... well, don't.

God doesn't judge us on the good that we do, or else he would have to judge us on the bad that we do also.

Hitler did some good, somewhere, to someone in his life, someone looked at him and was grateful in their heart for some little thing that he did, surely. Where does God draw the line between the little good that Hitler did, and the greater good that a pedophiliac philantropist does, and the bad that they do?

If our good and our bad are just weights on either side of a scale, then why did Jesus suffer and die, for as the bible says in Isaiah 53:6...the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.

It will probably be an unpopular analogy but, religions are like drugs, the drugs that work for you (prescribed or over-the-counter), don't always work for someone else. Some people's bodies cannot handle codeine, for example, and others can't handle Catholicism. You have to go with what works for you.

I guess the deciding factor on the outcome of your soul is decided by the one who decides the outcome of your soul.

Confusing? Think about it. What (or who) decides the outcome of your soul? If it's God, then He makes the rules, right? But maybe it's something/someone else.

its interesting that you feel a bond with druids, which parts don't you believe in?

well done on being brave enough to announce that your belief system has changed and to be open-minded enough to explore other options.

your soul will be just fine as long as you continue to be fulfilled in an unselfish way and respect Gaia and all who walk upon her!

and feel free to ask any more questions, either here or personally.

blessed be

Rex B, yes, they have. And I suppose you would follow Hitler too. I agree with the asker's opinion.

Nicole, no, no, we're perfectly fine, thanks. Connie, it doesn't matter what you THINK it'll be either.

Oh, and "hisgloryisgreat", Hitler did it for God and Jesus Christ, at least partially, much like a lot of the Nazis did. What do you think of that?

The deciding factor of the outcome of you soul IS whether your soul is saved or not due to YOUR choosing to accept God's provision for mankind thru Jesus' death and resurrection. Doesn't matter what we/you THINK it should be. We/you do not make this eternal decision. What we/you make is a CHOICE with two outcomes spelled out in the Word of God, Heaven or Hell forever. Ask God thru His Son, Jesus these questions thru prayer, not man who is not the one to decide your eternity. And this void you speak of is what God put in all of us, so that we might seek Him to fill this void. Anything else man chooses to fill this void will leave him empty. Ask Jesus into your heart, repent of your sins and make a choice to trust and follow Him. Your void WILL be filled with The Holy Spirit who will give you understanding of God's Word, give you a renewed heart, mind and soul. God bless

I boleive in Jesus and all that stuff that i'm suppose to boleive in(i'm roman catholic). I only pray to god though. I end my prayer with (in the name of the father and of the son and the holy spirit amen) i guess that is praying to all of their family, but in my prayers i only ask god and mention his name when i ask for help. I had a hard life for 3 years. I always boleived in god just i didn't always pray. I started praying a lot because i was falling into depression. He helped me get out of it. I'm not even joking. It wasn't my works at all. Infact he did everything i asked. You see.. he won't give you a million dollars if you ask for it, but if you ask for a new friend when you really need one he'll help you meet a new one in a matter of time. I had really bad friends and i asked for a new one who i could still have fun with but one that would never dare to hurt me or backstab me. He gave me a friend as i asked for 3 months after. A year in a half later she had never backstabbed me nor said bad words of me to anyone. I boleive all religions pray to a main source which is the highest of power. As christians we call him god and maybe others call him allah and soo on.. but he is the source of all creation therefore i do not even dare quiestion his existence. Once i heard somone speak bad of god and said he didn't exist i felt like punching her in the face. I literaly never felt so angry in my life. My uncle died a fough months after and i asked god to see him one last time. While i was sleeping i had a dream i was talking to him and he said he was really happy and he protected me from where he was. I woke up sitting up and with a big smile on my face. Boleive what you want, but god is what i live for and my family, which i consider him my familu.
