The old covenant(Laws of Leviticus) were canceled out by Jesus...look at Hebrews 8(since there is only 13 verses) more specifically 7-13. It is too long to post on here, but I will list 13, which explains the "New Covenant".
Hebrews 8:13 By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and aging will soon disappear.
That is why I, and many others, say the old covenant(aka laws of leviticus) was thrown out, because they were not repeated by Jesus in His new covenant....

If you spew about Matthew 5:17 here is an excerpt from http://www.ucg.org/booklets/NC/teaching.htm
What did Jesus mean when He spoke of fulfilling the law?
Regrettably, the meaning of " fulfilling the law" has been twisted by many who claim the name of Jesus but don't really understand what He taught. They say that since Jesus said He would fulfill the law, we no longer need to keep it.
Another view of "fulfilling the law" is that Jesus "filled full" what was lacking in the law—that is, He completed it, partly canceling it and partly adding to it, forming what is sometimes referred to as "Christ's law" or "New Testament teaching."
The implication of this view is that the New Testament brought a change in the requirements for salvation and that the laws given in the Old Testament are obsolete. But do either of these views accurately reflect what Jesus meant?

Solly, I can't tell if your a boy or a girl because of your picture...so I guess I can't ask you to be my boyfriend...
*rolls eyes* no, I do not believe I will be asking to have a boyfriend. I just hate it when people throw leviticus at people for things, or things from the old testament. It really REALLY annoys me lol.

Yeah Julia, the reason why some of the old covenant apply to us is because Jesus included them in the new covenant...thanks though for trying to make me seem like a fool...
But guess what, those laws, if Jesus hadn't fulfilled them, would apply to me because the Christians would be Jews...
We have them in our bible(as someone has said) as a reference, but people throw them at each other as though we are to still follow them.

Careful! This particular "old covenant" was not "thrown out". It is an "everlasting" covenant between God and the Jews. It's true, the "new covenant" is a better one, but the old still stands. Just because we Gentiles are excused from the bulk of the Mosaic Law does not mean that The Law is not still in effect. You should show more respect for this Covenant of God, even though it's not the covenant of which you and I are part.

Look at Matt 5:18... The next verse after the oft-misinterpreted "I did not come to destroy the law" actually PREDICTS ITS DEMISE. By stripping this phrase from its context, opponents of Christian freedom try to bind Christians in the shackles of the law even though Jesus makes it clear that the law was never intended to be eternal.
Jesus' words, "...Not even the smallest stroke of a pen will disappear from the Law UNTIL EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED" from verse 18 REINFORCE THE TEMPORARY NATURE OF THE LAW. They ONLY make sense when we understand that it was intended FROM THE BEGINNING to be SET ASIDE once the NEW COVENANT was established at Christ's death.
On the cross, Jesus' last recorded saying, "It is finished," is an important milestone. Because of Jesus life, Satan had been defeated. The law was finished and would no longer stand between God and mankind.
BUT THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE LAWS ARE WORTHLESS OR MEANINGLESS!
Paul, writing in Romans 15:4 says, "Everything that was written in the past was written to teach us. The Scriptures give us strength to go on. They cheer us up and give us hope." Clearly, even though he repeatedly wrote that the law was no longer in effect (Eph 2:15 and Col 2:14 for instance), Paul's intent was like that Jesus expressed in Matthew 5:17-18. The PURPOSE of Jesus' work was not to abolish the law, BUT, it WAS one of the RESULTS of that work.

Jesus came to fufuill the law, what that means is that He fufilled the requirements of the law in full, which we could not do as sinners. That is why He is the one sacrifice that brought man back to God for all time. That is why old teastement ordinances are done away with. Christ filled the requirments of the law in FULL. And Christ alone will reconcile all unto God,in His own time.

When Jesus said "It is finished" on the cross, he was talking about the WHOLE cycle of the old laws. Men before Christ's time had to offer sacrifices to atone for their sins. When Jesus died he was the ultimate sacrifice and his blood was enough to cover every sin. I agree with you, the laws of Leviticus are covered in the blood of Jesus Christ. They are in the bible now to use as a reference to show us how blessed we are now that we don't have to follow these strict laws to get into heaven. We now have the holy spirit which will guide us and show us the righteous paths to lead and we can come under the blood of Jesus Christ by confessions of sin and make it to heaven through the wounds that he suffered for us. God Bless!

If you are referring to animal sacrifices, than I would say that they were "replaced" rather than "thrown out". Those sacrifices were a symbol of Christ's atonement and a reminder of the plan that He would sacrifice Himself one day. After His Crucifixion He replaced that ritual with the sacrament. Now we can all remember His deed for all mankind every Sunday.

I'm sorry - I don't know what the question is...
Now that the old laws are canceled out, will you be getting yourself a gay boyfriend?
UPDATE: Still waiting for the *real* question, though I think Juliea - the Jewess below - nailed it for the rest of us. You don't *need* to be rescued from Leviticus, because you were never bound by it.

It's irrelevant whether you believe in the laws of Leviticus.
They were never your laws to begin with because you aren't a Jew.
These laws never applied to you as a non-Jew, therefore Jesus cannot set you free from something that doesn't exist for you.
You cannot be freed from something that you were never bound by in the first place. There is nothing to free you from.
No non-Jew was ever subjected to any punishments for breaking any of the laws that only applied to Jews. Ever.
Why? Because since they were not your laws, there was no punishment laid out for non-jews concerning them.
The only laws that ever applied to you as a non-Jew are the 7 Universal Laws, otherwise known as the 7 Noahide Laws, which are found in every culture in every age.
These are STILL binding upon you, Jesus did NOT free you from them - but if you think he did, go ahead and run out and break a few of them and see what happens.
1. Do not murder
2. Do not steal
3. Do not curse God
4. Do not commit adultery
5. Do not commit idolatry
6. Do not tear the limb from a living animal to eat (this law is against animal cruelty)
7. Do establish courts of law to uphold the previous 6 laws in order to have a fair and just society.
The Law given to the Jews is eternal, God says so when He gave it to the Jews.
I suppose you think Jews abide by the law so they can get into heaven too, don't you. I bet that's what you've learned from Christianity, isn't it. Guess what, it's wrong. Jews don't even have such a concept in the first place.
You might find interesting what Jews really believe, and who and what the real messiah is to be, to do, and where he comes from, and what is is NOT, as given by God on Mt. Sinai to the Jews, who have kept it pure and holy ever since:

Learn about the ancient pagan foundations of Christianity while you're at it, you may find it interesting. Judaism and Christianity are nothing at all alike.

What Jews believe:

EDIT: If Jesus was trying to include for non-Jews in the New Testament some of the laws meant only for Jews, then he was going against the word of God, because God gave those laws ONLY to the Jews as an eternal covenant. Non-Jews didn't need them, they had the 7 Noahide Laws by which to be righteous and have a place in the world to come. THOSE are your path to righteousness, the other laws never have been.
Jews follow the 7 Noahide Laws too, by the way, as a part of the 613 laws.
Not trying to make you look like a fool, just pointing out the foolishness and ignorance of these teachings of Christianity which non-Jews should be aware of. Please go and check out those links and afterwards you'll know more than 99.9 percent of Christians do.
And you should give some thought to what it feels like to Jews to constantly have to see and hear ignorance such as "your laws were thrown out" as so much garbage. Simply because you've been taught ignorance, and WE are aware of what the ignorance is that you've been taught about our laws, but you are not, and you need to be. It's extremely offensive, and it was MEANT to be offensive when the Church came up with it, as well. Just like calling us "blind", which is always a handy-dandy thing to say about a people when trying to wipe them out and replace their religion with your own.
And then to see one of our own stuck up on a stick like that in all your buildings, is completely offensive. Could you imagine how the Native Americans would feel if it was one of theirs the Church had skewered like a barbeque stick? You really don't know anything about what Jews were given on Mt. Sinai concerning who and what the Messiah is to be, so please, do go look at those links and learn. You'll be the better for it.
And no, Jesus didn't fulfill any laws. Anymore than stopping at a stop sign means that now you've fulfilled the stopsign law and never need to stop at another one. The law is ETERNAL, says God when He gave it. It is not something that can be "fulfilled" because these laws are the means by which the Jews walk the path of selfLESSness in this world, bringing down the compassion and kindess of God as examples for the world to see, and live their own lives with compassion and kindness towards their fellow man - and towards God. THIS is the reason that the Jews follow the law, we do NOT follow the law to get into heaven, we do not even have such a concept. See the error in what you've been taught about our religion and the meanings of what we do? And this is just ONE example. Go and read those links, you'll know more than most Christians do after that. Good luck.
