Yes he is known for his HONESTY. A hat, beard, or clothing are not a trait. A trait is something that depicts a persons character.

As Mike said, he was known for his honesty, and I am going from there.

He was honest human being who knew that "all men are created equal". That was why he went into a civil war against the Southern bigots, and abolished slavery. Though it was not till the 1960's that the civil rights movement came into being by Martin Luther King.

President Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, for the same reason Martin Luther King was. They both believed in civil liberties.

All I can think of is that he led our country into one of the most bloody times of our history and he is praised for it. I just don't understand the admiration some people give him.

All i really remember is that he was know as "Honest Abe". I don't really know why though.
