She has already spent one night in the ICU and two days at the VET during the day while we moniter her all night and force feed her AD and HIGH CAL every 4 hours, 5 ML. She won't eat on her own and I just don't know what to do. She wants to lick from my lips but not even CLOSE to LICKING ANY FOOD!! I can't afford the VET everyday and she still has her Cathader in just in case. I'm a mess and worry that something is going to happen to her. Is there anything I can do to get her to eat on her own?? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

She still has the Cathader in her little leg because they want to make sure she will be ok and they have direct access to giving her the sugar she needs. They said she is Hyperglycemic and that when she was not responding and we got her to the ER her blood sugar levels were unregisterable because they were so low. We have over come that and want to get her to start eating on her own. The VET wants her eating every 4-6 hours 5-10ML of AD and in between meals give her the HIGH CAL syrup stuff. She is 10 weeks old and weighs as of today 1.20 lbs. yesterday she weighed 1.12, so she is gaining some weight. She has Diarhea and pees ALOT specially right after she eats. We want her to have a regular diet but are so scared of just waiting because we don't want to find her lifeless again, cold and basically close to DEATH!! We will take her back to VET in morning but we need to get her to eat so we don't have to take her everyday.

Tiny dog breeds have cronic problems with low blood sugar. If you don't take her back to the vet, she's going to die. I'm sorry to put it so bluntly, but you should be prepared that she might already be too weak to survive.
Ask the vet about taking her back to her mother for a few weeks so that she has a little longer to develop with mother's milk. I know this is hard...and expensive... I'm sorry. The love of a little dog is worth it, though. Good luck.

First of all RELAX!!!
You could be causing the problem by reacting badly to the situation. After all, if you're this upset, feeding time must be something horrible, right? At least that's how the pup could see it.
You need to get her on a schedule. Strict eating and bathrooming schedules will let you know exactly when and how much she should, and actually is, eating.
Eliminate all chews that are food. Plastic ones only for now. If she gets full on rawhide (or whatever), she won't eat. Like a kid eating cookies before dinner.
Back off the feedings for now. Cramming everything but the kitchen sink down her throat isn't helping, it's causing more anxiety, and the poor pup won't get used to regular meals and meal times.
It takes puppies a few days to get used to a new home. Like I said...
RELAX!!!

You are force feeding a lot of food for a tiny Yorkie pup. Did the vet calculate that diet out for you? Because it could very well be that she's just not getting hungry between the feedings. You should ask the vet to calculate her calorie requirements, based on her weight, and caclulate how many calories you are force feeding. Small Yorkies only need 200 calories, or less, per day. And Yorkies are excellent at training their owners to spoil them, and at convincing their owners that they will starve to death if not catered to. They are very smart, very dramatic dogs. The more you tempt her, the less likely she will condescend to eat dog food. I would pick maple syrup and yogurt over A/D any day of the week.

Hmmmm..... I work at a vet clinic. Often my boss prescribes Reglan (generic name Metoclopramide) which is an anti-nausea, anti-vomiting medication, but you'd have to get it through the vet. They may have tried that while she was in the hospital. One thing we often have success with is a product called Rebound. It's an oral electrolyte solution, and I believe it's salmon flavored. I don't know if it's sold anywhere other than a vet clinic. Umm.... gosh, a/d is supposed to be one of the best things for getting a dog to eat. My only other suggestion would be trying a little bit of boiled hamburger and rice. That's what we recommend to a lot of dogs we see with upset GI tracts. Good Luck!

This is a tricky situation. Did the vet suggest what was causing this? I know my wire hair terrier mix stopped eating and I noticed she had not had a bowel movement in several days. I took her to the emergency vet, and they had to give her an enema and clean her system out. Sometimes when they are in pain from their intestines this causes them not to eat.
I would look for bloating, her stomach was really pooched out. Then I would try a very small amount of Kopectate... less than 5mL.
Look at her stool and see if there are any worms in it, if you see them they are tape worms.... also have you had her checked for hearworms? This is another possiblity....

I am sorry that your dog is so sick. What does the vet say is wroing with it?? Have you contacted the breeder? How long have you had the dog? If you just got it, you need to call the breeder and tell them she is sick. The vet needs to give you some answers as to what is wrong with your puppy, or try a new vet before the puppy dies.

Since you have already spent money at the vet's office, try calling them on the phone to see if the doctor who saw her can think of anything else to try, that should prevent more charges from actually "seeing" the doctor. Or call the breeder you got her from.

Have you tried meat baby food? You know ,it's strained beef, chicken, lamb, etc. for human babies.Mix it with a bit of high protein baby cereal and a little water or broth, and warm it slightly.Put some in her mouth with your finger, and I bet she will eat it.Also, have you tried Bil-Jac frozen dog food? It's very good for puppies and because it has molasses in it,it would help to keep her blood sugar up.I've never known a dog to refuse it.It's worth a try.Otherwise, maybe cooked ground beef, eggs, chicken, etc. The important thing is to get her to eat SOMETHING,even if it's liquid puppy formula. Good luck with the little thing.

Has the vet said what could possibly be wrong with her? If they are not helping I would go to a different vet. Also, notify the breeder of the pup.

hm it sounds as if your yorkie might have hypoglycemia which is low blood sugar. it is more common in smaller yorkies-yorkies under 4 pounds. go get some nutri-cal. it's high cal liver tasting like syrup that should help ease stress and return your pup to normal. whenever she seems like she has lack luster energy squirt enough on your finger like you would toothpaste and give it to her. also have work done to make sure
