At one point Job felt the same way. Yes many die without any fufillment. Many go to the grave without anyone caring. Why are we here? Well there was a earth age before this one in which 1 third of God's children rebelled with satan. Instead of God destroying 1 third of His children He decided to have each pass through this earth age,or flesh age. So that each, would have a chance to be reconciled ounto God through the Precious Blood of a sinless saviour. God will not have any perish, but all will be brought to repentance. We are here because God created someone just like you to love Him for all eternity. Christ's mission is complete and final. He came to this world to save all,and reconcile and make atonement for the sins of all,and He has. All will be reconciled unto God,but each man in his order,it won't all be at the same time.

This is strictly a Christian answer. okay? I don't write like this all the time, but I would like to this time.
We are currently in the 'time of the Gentiles'. God is counting the number of us until we come to whatever number we are to become for His satisfaction.
This is also the 'Church Age'. It's been that way for about 2000 years. In this age we have those that are chosen by God to receive grace from Him through the effort of Jesus, whom He sent to Earth as a fulfillment of prophecy given in the Old Testament.
What we can do if God gives us the desire is respond to Him by trusting Him for what He says. That's what He wants us to do. But we can also go our own way. The choice is ours.
We can:
1) Go our own way.
2) Go His way.
That's why we are here.

Here's how I see it: Deity is a being of love. The nature of love is to create, and so things have been created, including us. That is it. We have no grand purpose.
Out of love for life I created a drawing. That drawing itself has no real purpose. It just exists from a spur of passion. Maybe someday I'll sell it and gain some cash, but that wasn't some grand scheme of mine, even though it was benefitial to be. Likewise, it may just be a waste of space, a burden. Whatever it is now, doesn't really matter. It's just an expression of my emotions.
I am an expression of love, and nothing more.

You might of heard this many times but we are nothing compared to what is outside the earth and with that god is to great and i think we are to small minded to handle all of the wisdom and knowledge to why we are made. Some say we are just a moral experiment and the gift to suceeding the experiment is everlasting life. The good will last and evil will prevail. It is all god's will and we as his creation are in no place to question his authority. But I guess this is to show god if us humans can be good with our ability to freely do good or evil deeds. like i said i think it is a moral experiment.

We are here to glorify God and to get to know Him and have fellowship with Him through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In order to do this we must believe that Christ died for our sins and rose again. We must repent of our sins and invite Jesus into our lives and desire to serve Him. A lot of your questions about life will be answered if you start reading the New Testament. The amazing thing is that God loves us, although why I have no idea.

the reason we are on earth is to keep balance of the circle of life and through our mistakes figure out how the universe works in order for us to conquer it. or maybe we weren't supposed to live and our existance was a mistake and we will eventually die out and let the universe alone
you choose either of these theories

We are here because we have life.
We are on earth because there is no other place known that can sustain human beings.
Ask your parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends if the world would be better without you.
You will be surprised by their answer.

To give you the most honest answer, we are here to provide entertainment for God. If we didn't exist, God would feel all lonely and bored. I know I'll get some thumbs down but this is really the truth.
