This is a question for an Ob-Gyn. Zoloft works great in some people and other people feel suicidal on it. Proceed with caution.

It has been established that when a pregnant woman is depressed, perinatal risks rise. Based on studies, the evidences suggest that in most cases, treating depression is better for both mother and offspring. However, there is no antidepressant tagged as entirely safe during pregnancy so if the use of antidepressant is highly needed, the pregnant mother should be monitored for the safety of both mother and the baby.
Just as with pregnancy there is no antidepresant that is certain as entirely safe when taken while breastfeeding. Antidepressants use during breast-feeding exposes infants to negligible or higher concentrations and though most of the studies found no detectable adverse consequences, there are few studies who found few mild to severe consequences.
If a woman needs an antidepressant but wishes to breast-feed, it is may be safer to use a drug with a longer record of safety like a tricyclic antidepressant.
Zoloft use during breastfeeding generally has unknown effects on nursing infants but may be of concern. Just like the other antidepressants said to be safe, it may have possible effects on the baby. Most of the studies however found that the baby gets high blood level of it but so far no proven bad consequences. But still 100%safety in its use has not been established.

I don't think you should take them I got really depressed when I was pregnant due to circumstances and my doctor told me no. I was also high risk for post par tum but I made it through without anything. I also nursed and have been diagnosed with depression as a disease.I'm sure there is something you can take after the baby is born but I would be careful Their little systems are so new to everything.

Anti depressants are generally not recommended for pregnant women or while breast feeding.
"Generally" that is... most of the time it is that type of case where you need to weight the risks and benefits of the situation. The drugs can possibly be teratogens (baby harming) but then they may keep the mom sane enough that she will make smart decisions throughout the pregnancy and postpartum.
You would be surprised to see how many pregnant women do actually take them...

Hmmm......
I'm kinda bias to this and should recuse myself.......
But I'm not.
When a pregnant woman takes any kind of drug, that baby is sipping on the same straw.
It's up to your qualified doctor and his/her opinion.
My first child, I didn't take even take a asprin, but after he was born early, all perky at just under 5lbs. I got over it.
He was born early because an alleged friend of the family didn't alert me that her son was infected with the "German Flu" which caused me to have early contractions and my perky son's warm cubby hole of a cave, came to an end. Because I contracted the germ!
My second son. I let loose and took asprin.
This comes to the present.
My on again, off again daughter-in-law, is certifiable looney.
(she had terrible parents)
I've given up my patience on her. She's destroying everything she touches.
She takes everything under the sun, including the use of her "Canabus Card"!
Their first son was born early at 2lbs, with drugs in his system. He has seizures now. She raised hell all the while in the hospital and everywhere she goes.
Their second son. This time she only used the marijuana and all her psych meds!.......He's appears to be normal, but when he looks at you, he stares at you with a demonic look. Which she claims that he is an quote "old soul"
The use of anti-depressants are sometimes unavoidable in many cases.
After the birth of the child, I feel it's the mothers duty to pay attention to her mental health and take all she needs, but don't nurse.
That medicine is going into your baby's system.
This is only my opinion, but read the below links.

It is advisable not to take any drugs whilst having a baby
or whilst nursing a baby, but if your not sure about this answer? Go and see your family doctor, but in my own opinion,i would not take any sort of drug whilst breast feeding a baby as it is likely to get a drug dependency from
mother's milk,or from her blood if she is pregnant,as baby takes nourishment from the food you eat and process
naturally.

Paxil causes birth defects. I don't know about the others.
If you are at high-risk for postpartum depression or post-partum psychosis, they'll put you on meds and recommend you don't breast feed.
