Is there anyway to tell if a speed limit sign was posted by the government? How do I know if I see a sign that an individual didn't place it there? I live in SC, should this be placed on public record anywhere? Thanks

Here is how you know....

Those signs are fairly expensive. Not too many idiots buying them. If you have any question as to the speed limit. Every city will have a list with the speed limit for every street in town.

individuals are not allowed to place speed limit signs. Streets and highways are monitored by local, state and federal officials and any fake sign would soon be removed.

look on the sign it will say property of whatever your city is. Like in live in Mesa AZ all our signs say City of Mesa on the signs.
