For those who just want to make a comment about how I messed up, this question is NOT for me. I am helping out a friend who does not have net access and keeps getting a run around with lawyers. So please just try to answer honestly and not be so judgemental because EVERYONE makes mistakes.

Once you turn yourself in you will go to court the next day and you will be released the same day, with future court. The jail systems do not have the money to hold you throughout your whole court proceedings. I see this on a daily basis at the jail I work at.

You may have a higher sentence imposed due to the missed court date. The judge has guildlines to go by, like 1-3 months. Its possible that you would get closer to the 3 months for missing a court date. Or you could get a contempt of court charge. I bet overall you will just get a fine and probation though, and community service.

The time in jail would be until he or she saw a judge then after that a bond will be set then they can post the bond and get out until the next hearing.

Like we're studied, intelligent layers who've spent many years getting our boards and degree in law. None of us can fully help you. You can get opinions here. But final answers for what you've got HAS to come from a lawyer. Not a friend, but a nonpartial lawyer. And you'd better do it tomorrow!

Way to go. You will get locked up until your next court date. Whenever that is. Could be months. However, it will look better if you turn yourself in than have the cops come find you.
