Hes going to a different owner and changing his number. For me im really glad bcuz when he was with dale earnhardt inc they wouldnt treat him like he wanted to be treated. He wants to be his own person.
I dont believe hes changing his number though. He should stick with the number 8 instead of going with i think 5.

I agree with you 100% regarding Junyer being recognized for "who he is" and not "the son of DE Sr.".

Imo, Junyer will find greater success with HMS and his new ride.

Alot of the Junior Nation has been all up in arms about all this and some have been so brash and down right ignorant to say his Dad is rolling in his grave over this.

His Dad at the same point in his career made some major changes. Leaving Junior Johnson to race for Richard Childress. Changing sponsors from Wrangler to GM Goodwrench. Alot of the Junior Nation seems to forgot the very hertiage they so boldly claim they are trying to uphold.

Junior needed to make a clean break and he has. He is now defining himself on his own terms. By having a new team, new number, new sponsor he can now shape and mold himself into what he wants Junior to be; not what Dale Sr. Fans want him to be; not what Teresea wants him to be; and not what Budweiser wants him to be. Dale Jr. now gets to be Dale Jr..

I know the Junior Nation will shout me down for this one; but Ya'll made him into someone he is not. At Hendricks he will be who he truely is and Ya'll are gonna be suprised.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has fair-weather fans.

Q: When is a fan really not a true fan?

A: When they are a Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan.

As I witnessed Dale Earnhardt Jr. join forces w/ Hendrick Motorsports one thought was dominant among many. Will Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans show their true colors? The answer came swift and was a resounding YES.

The truth is hard to accept at times but it needs to be said regardless of the consequences. So here goes…

A great majority of Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans are not true fans at all; indeed, they are Dale Earnhardt fans using Dale Jr. to perpetuate the belief that Dale Sr. is still alive and racing. This was made quite clear to me when conversations and speculation that Jr. might join Hendrick Motorsports was met with scoff and scorn. It was like the mere suggestion was almost blasphemy or heresy. To dare think Jr. would join up with anyone else but his father’s old team drove the faux fans to such a fit they spilled there Budweiser on the trailer’s shag carpet floor.

You can’t handle “the truth”! Dale Jr. is not his father. To the rebel flag #8 waving crowds this break from tradition is a pale of cold water thrown on their sunburned necks. They don’t care if Jr. wins a championship, they don’t care that Jr. make his own way and set his goals and achieves them; all the faux fans want is someone to follow in Dale Earnhardt’s footsteps. They want the “tradition” to continue, and they are so selfish and small minded that this break from tradition is breaking them, because it is forcing them to see, (probably for the first time) that they are not really Dale Earnhardt Jr. fans at all.

Get over it or move on. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is making his own path and setting his course to personal and professional success. I’ll be cheering loud for Dale Earnhardt Jr. no matter what car he is driving, who he calls his teammates, or what team he is driving for. You see, I am a fan, a true fan.

Even tho I am a gordon fan I feel that it is a great decision from a career stand point. He needed to make a change like this a long time ago. He has been so wrapped up on the business end of DEI that he cant focus on his racing. And I really think that he will win more races honestly he will be able to learn from gordon much like gordon learned from dale sr. I feel that he will win a championship in the next 2-3yrs!! after the 5 yr contract ends I think he will start his own team!!! just my feelings about it all!!

I like Dale he seems like a good guy, but he left DEI to have more control of a racing operation and he is not going to get it there, there are too many egos there, and Hendrick teamates do not work together, they don't help each other at all on the track. He should have went to Joe Gibbs where he could have worked with his buddy Tony.

i like it because he wants to be dale earnhardt jr!!! not dale earnhardt seniors son. he is doing what he believes is good for him. he is a much better driver than the equipment he has right now is showing. i think by going to HMS he is going to be much more competitive every race. i think he is going to win many more races and at least a few championships. he's 32 so it is a good thing he decided to move teams cause lets say he stayed with DEI for 4 more years he would be 36 and after that age ur driving skills start to diminish somewhat

It's business, plain and simple. The sad thing about this whole ordeal is how many of his so-called fans are disappointed, because they think he's leaving them. Come on, folks! He cares as much about you as he does about nothing. Understand that it isn't personal. It's just business. Get a life. Sure, it's sad his dad died and all that crap, but if your loyalty seems wasted by Jr. making business decisions, you don't understand what winning is all about. Either switch teams, or stew over ancient history. And the number 8 is just a number. 12 or 72 or even 01 won't make his car go any faster or slower. He's doing what any good businessman, with the clout and brains to do so, would do. If you don't like it, find a new good ol' boy to pump your fist at for three hours every Sunday.
"Step on the gas, and turn left."

Moving to Hendricks was the best thing for him. I think we will be seeing a different Dale Jr in the next few years!

I really don't care about the owner or team he is in. What I like is that he is going to be in a team that will give him better cars, engineers, well practically everything will be better and now he will be able to be a constant competitor. that will make the races more exciting. I don't believe a number or a sponsor make the driver it is the other way around.

I like Jr but i believe he's getting this opportunity because of his dad. He's not even close to being a winner!
