People who want to commit suicide and who actually try it do it because they don't see a way out of the pain that they are feeling. The depression can get so bad and so deep that even with medication and therapy it can seem endless and if you're a person who's been dealing with depression for years you begin to wonder if it will ever end. If you can't see an end to the pain and frustration of depression and the pain caused by the depression suicide seems like the only way to end the pain. Most people who are attempting to commit suicide don't really want to end their lives they want to end the pain. But this is the only way that they can see of doing that. I have a condition called dysmithna or something like that which means chronic depression. It is like haveing arthrits it's something that you will always have and some days will be better than others. Well when you have chronic depression, things like family deaths and other trama's can send you into a really deep depression even when it's a distant family member that otherwise you would be sad about but wouldn't throw you into a serious depression. I have had to deal with these kind of issues for fourty years and at some point you wonder if it will ever end. When you realize that it's going to be a life long issue you might wonder if it's worth dealing with it for the rest of your life.

For someone who truly wants to commit suicide the pain they feel is indescribable, Although not pain in the tangible way it is as real as the pain we feel when we break a leg or get burned. The feeling of utter despair distorts the thoughts of the person such that they believe everyone would be better off without them. They perceive the sense off loss people would feel on their death to be less that the suffering they cause while alive. Just the fact that someone talks of suicide makes the chances of it happening that much more real. Once a person can bring themselves to utter the thought of suicide one of the minds own safety checks have been removed. Always seek help for you or someone you know if they express this thought process. If they are not serious then what does it matter. If they are serious you could be saving a life.

I have tried to many times, and this is my answer. it might be different depending on different people. don't let anyone tell you , "cuz they're cr8y!!" because they're not. they are just really sad.
When I was going through my severe depression, I was so sad. I did not have a friend in the world. I sat by myself at lunch, and never had a birthday party. I always kept my feelings inside of me, and I tried to be the perfect daughter to my parents, because my brother has autism and my sister was on drugs at the time. as you can tell, this was a recipe for disaster. I first started trying in preschool. I didn't really know what I was getting into. every year after that, I kept trying (trying to drown, jumping off of swing sets, "innocent" things like that, and my parents just thought I was clumsy). last year, however, was the worst. I was pushed over the edge, perhaps it was keeping my sadness inside of me for 15 years. when people commit suicide, they just want to get out. they are so sad and so desperate, that this is the only way that they can feel better. its the only way to escape. suicidal people do think about their family, just not very clearly. They thing about how this is the right decision for everybody. My thoughts, for example, were "well, they can use my college money to re-do the kitchen" while my mother wouldn't mind a new kitchen, she would rather have me. forgive those who want to commit suicide, they need someone there for them. and when they get better, they will thank you. it might seem really hard to help someone so deep into depression, but you are saving that persons life just by being they're shoulder to cry on. by the way, I am doing much better now. eventually, if they don't die, people with suicidal thoughts get better, they just need treatment, just like any other disease.

Sometimes one will feel like there is nothing worth living for, that no one cares about them. Maybe for them, freedom is gained, they don't have their old life of sorrow to worry about anymore. But it still leaves pain for the people who did care for them, even though they didn't know that there were people who loved them. Once, I thought of committing suicide, but I figured that the next day would bring new hope, i'd never give up on my life.

1. Altruistic - I.E. sacrifice your life to save another person.
2. They are suffering from depression and just want the pain to end.
3. If the person is mentally ill and he/she knows that his illness is hurting others psychologically/physically, suicide ends this.
4. Cult/religious belief - a person is so delusional that he believes he will go to heaven if he commits suicide.
5. The person is terminally ill and suffers constant pain - suicide puts this to rest.
6. Accidental suicide (I.E. Orgasmic Asphyxiation)
7. People (for whatever reason) are intentionally cruel to a person until they just can't handle it anymore - the person might end his/her life for this reason.

What's gained is death! Is ones life that bad! They dont think of what will happen to family and friends when they r gone! They r selfish only thinkin that ending their life would be happiness I guess! but it's not!

You you have to think from there point of view "why should i live' its hard to talk yourself to think this world is great and dandy its not, some people cant take the suffering no matter how minimum honestly i think nothing is gained but waste you have one shot to live if you think lifes that bad you could always stop where you are and turn the other way

I used to ask myself this question, but I found that a man once jumped from the Golden Gate Bridge trying to kill himself and lived. When he was asked what went through his mind before he thought he'd die, the man stated that he immediately and instantly regreted his decision. At the moment he made the decision he realized there was so much he could've tried that he didn't and felt that all of his emotions and troubles weren't really all that bad. I think they don't realize there is nothing to gain from the loss of a life and the potential it holds.

Absolutely nothing is gained, but if you are in that frame of mind, you are not thinking coherently. A person commits suicide because they think life is not worth living, nothing in their life really matters.

nothing is really gained in reality. i guess they feel like they gain because they aren't alive, feeling the pain they feel that makes them want to commit suicide.
