Instead of attempting to deport or keep out all the Mexicans who are coming to America.... why don't we just make them citizens? The most common complaint I hear is that they make money here without paying taxes. If they were citizens, wouldn't they be on record as being required to pay taxes just like anyone else?

And a couple of you have suggested that granting "amnesty" (obviously, most people's defination of amnesty differ than mine, but let's not get into that) would cause law abiding Mexicans (and again, this question is about Mexican immigrants, not Europeons) to lose their citizenship. I am not at all suggesting putting a higher priority on giving currently illegal Mexicans more benifits than legal ones, I'm saying "Hey, lets's give every Mexican waiting (What's with the waiting process anyway, is this the DMV?) their citizenship already, and then grant every one crossing the border, after they pass a simple criminal background check of course, citizenship. That way we have track of all the people who enter the country and we can make sure they do things the American way. Why not just Americanize all the immigrnats? Most of these problems are from them not speaking English or not being familiar with our laws - I say give 'em a crash course in American living, and expect them to follow it.

One more question: Why should one have to "earn" citizenship? All I did was get pushed outby my mom. Hardly an accomplishment on my part.
Look how easy it is to get a drivers licence! We hand those out to morons right and left.

Yet again, another detail: Illegal aliens ARE immigrnats, they are just not LEGAL immigrants. Anyone who comes to a country with intent of staying long term is an immigrant. Like it or not, that is fact.

So, it seems that the majority of Americans hate Mexicans. Come on, admit it. It's OK to hate. After all, Mexicans piss me off too with their racist bullshit.
ALl I was saying was "Hey, according to old school America, we should let everyone in" Of course we shouldn't actually let everyone in. I mean, we SHOULD, but it wouldn't be prudent to do so. I guess I'm just tires of hearing about the whole thing. Build a damn wall or let them in, make up your damn mind already!
I can't wait til this "issue" blows away just like the imiginary avian bird fru, SARS and most everything else on the news.

Then, our nation would have to deny entry to the millions of people who are patiently waiting to enter legally, have paid fees, filled out form after form. I'd rather deport illegal aliens, and it doesn't matter where they are from, and allow in the legal applicants who have shown a propensity to respect our laws and nation.

This is not a bias, it is a fact.
In 1986 we tried an amnesty plan for the 3 million illegals here, 21 years later the number is up to between 12-20 million.
Amnesty plans do not work, they just show illegals that it is OK to come here.
Any type of amnesty plan will open the door for more people to come here and bypass the safety checks we have legally in place no different from any other country.
Many people claim that illegals are here for a better life. Then why do they send so much money back to their home country?
I feel that many are using our system and have no intention of becoming a contributing part of our society.
Also , When all the citizens in prison, jail, and on probation or parole for misdomeanor crimes are given amnesty, then perhaps someone can explain with a valid reason why these criminals deserve amnesty.
I am sure that many of our criminals thought they were "just trying to make a better life for their families."

There are 2 downsides to making them citizens. One is the additional burden on the social security system. The other is that the US has a solid 2-party system of government. If one party gets to radical (like the Democrats did in the early 1990's and the Republicans did about 2004), the other party takes over for a while. Statistics show that Mexicans will vote 75-80% for Democrats. If we make the 20 million legal, it will also make their spouses and children legal, adding maybe 40 million to the voter roles in one generation, the vast majority of which will be Democrat. And, the checks and balances of our 2-party system will disappear. America can't work without 2 viable political parties.

I am from Venezuela and I am legal in this country. What I think the U.S. government should do is to make illegals 'legal' after checking their records/backgrounds in the U.S. if there are any and also in their countries, just to make sure they are okay to be legal in this country. If they are not 'good' in the time they are permanent residents in the U.S. and do something 'bad' then they should be deported and not be allowed to enter this country again, just because not only they were here illegally first, but they were given an opportunity and they misused it. As far as illegal adults with little kids and stuff like that...for them to get deported would REALLY SUCK...so that should be looked at in a different point of view because of the children's sake.

Wikipedia is not a dictionary. It is not a reference that is accepted by higher learning institutions.
There are countless errors. It is only as accurate as the person adding the details. These are NOT checked for accuracy. There have been people that had to clear their name due to misplaced and inaccurate biographies.
Its value is only for a rudimentary learning tool, not for use a reference, especially one that someone expects to prove something.
Try using it as a reference in a thesis...see how far it gets you.
An immigrant is not considered the same as an illegal alien....no matter how YOU would like to consider it. As far as the United States immigration laws are concerned they are DEFINITELY not the same. And it IS a slap in the face to legal immigrants to be grouped together or considered the same...if you have any respect at all for legal immigrants you SHOULD differentiate between them.
You should consult the definitions utilized by the USCIS, ICE, Border Patrol, Border Protection Officers...and use those....instead of "Wikipedia"....We don't use Wikipedia to write our LAWS!!!!!

What we need is someone to fix the trade policy in this country. NAFTA has caused the Mexican people's wage reduction. This has forced many to move here for work to get some money back home. What we need is a fair trade agreement with Mexico and start putting pressure on the Mexican government to support their people. I mean diplomatic pressure, I really think Mike Gravel has a good idea for immigration. Check it out!!

They ain't worth it.
During the May Day demonstrations they made their position clear.
And that is....
They have nothing but disdain for America, American Law, and Americans.
The broke the law by violating immigration laws.
And the broke some more laws with forged documents.
And why don't we just throw identity theft in.
They expressed their contempt for the language and the culture.
Did you miss all of that?
I got better idea.
Lets deport the Illegal Aliens and speed up the process for people that are doing things right.
Ethiopians....Somalians.
They step off the plane speaking English cause they were studying it in the squalid camp they been sitting in, waiting, for months and years.
And let's see how many of these Mexican Illegal Aliens will agree to submit their fingerprints for criminal background check.
They want amnesty on the condition that no conditions apply.

We have immigration laws in this country for a reason. We have a balance of who can come in and who can't. We don't want all of Poland showing up on our door, so we limit the number from that country. The Mexicans are way over represented and are not adding value to this country since the ones coming in are not educated. These illegals are costing this country 80 billion a year to support them and are filling up our prisons, bankrupting our hospitals, draining our social systems, and affecting the educations our children get because their children do not speak English. Them paying taxes is not enough to overcome the tax burden they are laying on American and they are changing the face of this country and not in a good way.

It's not about taxes young man.
It's about Angie Tyson.
In 1988, The beautiful, Angela Tyson was working for a video rental store in a town called Borger, TX....My home town.
An illegal immigrant came in, rented a porn or two, and after getting aroused, went back to the store, kidnapped, raped, murdered, and dismembered Angela. Then he drove around in her car with her dismembered body parts in her trunk.
My cousin was the Deputy who had to investigate the scene.
He still can barely stand to recount the story...nobody decent would want to make him.
I won't even say this a**bags name, as he deservedly got the death penalty.
It's not about taxes young man.
It's also about the treatment most of them have for anyone non-Mexican. I'm not talking about the good Latino people of this country...just the wet**ck (or if they cross when the river's low...the dustybutt).
I speak enough slang spanish to understand most insults said about white girls when two or more wet**cks are together and see one. They think we don't understand their calling them "whores" and that maybe if they're forced into it, they'll be impressed by their "skills" that they'll end up enjoying it. Or how they conspire to rob the "little fat white boy", when noone's around. But little do they realize how many of us DO hablamos espanol, and aware we are of them, and ready for them...
It's not about taxes young man.
It's about LaRaza, and Mecca. Go ahead. Search on those terms. Learn about the hispanic KKK. I dare you.
It's not about taxes young man.
It's about how they come here, earn good money, compared to anything in Mexico, and then send over huge sums to Mexico, hurting us financially.
It's not about taxes young man.
As far as anything any politician ever says about immigration,
If you buy into anything ever said by any politician, anywhere at any time on any subject, you are in fact a meat-headed chump!

U.S. citizenship is a privilege, not something our government should "just pass out".
My ancestors were Irish, English, and American Indian. My mother, who is Irish, was granted citizenship long before my father, who was descended from Native Americans. My father was born in Oklahoma in 1919. His mother, my grandmother, was a graduate of the Cherokee Female Seminary in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She taught school in Indian Territory before Oklahoma became a state. Some of my ancestors were "forced" to endure removal from their homes, now known as the "Trail of Tears", thousands of them dying along the way.
Paying taxes? Get real! I lived in a county in Missouri where, at least 75% of the residents there paid no taxes. How did they circumvent their tax liability? They received all their income through cash, and NEVER filed a tax return!
I have no sympathy or empathy for anyone who is living in the United States, taking advantage of the education system ( a system that doesn't even require proof of citizenship), or attempting to "play the system" by falsifying driver's licenses, Social Security cards, etc., etc.
As a teacher, I am continually told by the ""Hispanic" students, "I can't read or write" an assignment because I do not speak English, yet these same students are capable of interpreting for their Spanish-speaking parents.
Be as Hispanic as you want, celebrate Cinco DeMayo and your flamboyant clothing, let your little girls celebrate their "Sweet Fifteenth", but, don't "dis" me by telling me you can't speak English!

the ones who come in at an older age pay little into social security, and then get every last benefit when they retire. If you put a "first generation american" clause that keeps them from getting those benefits, that might end that complaint.
Other than that, the last thing any American wants is some mexican person coming to their workplace and saying "you see what this guy here is doing, I'll do it for minimum wage."
