I'm not a Christian, so I can't give you a Christian answer, but I can say this: We can't see everything from our level, so we can't understand how things like this happen, but if we were able to see it from a higher level, it may appear to be perfectly just. That does not mean we shouldn't have compassion for those who suffer, nor does it mean that we should excuse the behavior of those who inflict such devastation. It just means that we don't know what God knows.
For example, you might see a man running down the street with a woman's purse, and you could think that he has just mugged someone. But, if you were 5 stories up, you might have been able to see that a woman dropped the purse a block away, and the man was trying to catch up to her to return it. What we see is not always the entire story. A Christian does not accept the principal of reincarnation, so they can only answer, "God has a plan", but some people understand that what we do in our life has consequences that must be paid, either in this life or the next. So, someone might have victimized a child in his past life, and must suffer those same insults in this one. Since we can't know or remember our past or someone elses, we can only have compassion for the victim, and hold the criminal responsible.

No Lisa,
I am a Christian and I won't tell you that the Priest's are tools of the devil or that God can't or won't intervene in such things. All I can tell you for certain is that people are bad. In all walks of life you have good people and evil people. Unfortunately when a Priest or a Pastor commits such an abomination against innocents they make the news and for some reason it seems to be more shocking because they are supposed to have been shepherding God's flock. I think that it absolutely breaks God's heart when something like this happens to anyone especially innocent children. He does allow things to happen that don't make any sense. I suppose they will never make sense until we can ask him face to face why these things go on in the world. It is sad to me that anyone would rape or molest any child. It is even sadder when it is someone who they should be able to trust like a parent, a teacher or even a pastor. I do understand your confusion and I wish I could give you an answer as to why anything bad happens in the world. All I can think of to tell you is that they are mere humans and unfortunately humans are very deviant and can do the most horrible things to the most innocent of society. Hope my answer wasn't offensive and again I do understand your confusion on the situation. God bless.

If someone told you, you could decorate a room in any way you wanted and halfway through, they took over and wouldn't let you finish..you would think that person was a liar, wouldn't you? Well, God is not a liar..he gave us free will and he doesn't take his word back. So because of that, a lot of innocent people, have to suffer..But the good news is, God will punish those molesters unless they repent. No one gets a free ride,,,they will pay someday for the deeds they do. God says they will be thrown into the pit of Hell with Satan and the rest of his followers. Justice will be done.

Oh you must be one of those that think pedophilia is only in churches. A child has more of a chance of being molested in their own home by members of their family. As for why God does not intercede, God does not interfere on the free will of man. The priests that did all this cruelty were all homosexuals who had an agenda and infiltrated the church, they were not true men of God. The majority of those molested were all boys and preteen boys.

I'm not a christian, however on occasion I do read the bible. Before Noah and the flood God use to intervene with mankind a lot. After the flood he just let man be his own way until the day of judgment. I think much of it involves free will and knowing right from wrong.

DO not blame God for what those men did for they were not true pastors but wolves in sheep clothing.WHY GOD allow this to happen I do not know I will pray about it .GOd did not screw up. I truely believe that God will punish those people for at least two reasons 1they harmed those children and chilren are special to God.2their acts are causing persons like you to turn away from the true and only God.

Free will. Plain and simple.
There really isn't much to explain.
God gave us the ability to choose what we want, and without that free will, we would be non-existent.
People have the choice to go against God and pursue their own agenda, or the ability to serve and follow him.
Edit:
Yes, Hell is the punishment for sin. God doesn't send us to Hell, but we end up there for the sins we commit. Bad things are in the world because sin still exists. If God made all the bad things in the world go away, that would go against the free will of man. Ultimately, what we decide to use our free will for, will decide our outcome in the end.

There is only one God of our universe. I wish I could give you an answer that would be acceptable, but no one knows why he does what he does or allows what he allows.
That fact does not interfere with my knowing that He is our creator and what he tells us, in His Word, is true.
What do your gods have to say? - not a snide remark, an actual question.

We live in a fallen world. There is sin abound. Eve dropped the ball, then Adam dropped it again.
Sin is ugly-thats why obedience to God is so important.
When a (so-called) "priest" can do that-it just shows you just how sinful this world is.
Sin is the problem-not God.

These men do have a free will and it is to sin. The only good we have in us is by the grace of God. They will not go unpunished they will be judged by God. Maybe not here on earth but certainly they will be in death by God.
