Yes, I do feel sorry for them! Most non smokers have NO idea (especially FOR the older smokers pre/health on pack) How disheartening it is to to have the addiction. Simply because they were lied to about how and why they were addicted. Most smokers say they like to smoke and guess what? They do because they don't know how to stop.
I know a woman that tried for 38 years to stop.
She prayed for 20 of those years asking God to help. No help from God? Naaaww she just wasn't listening. Until one day in June of 2001 God clubbed her over the head and NOW LISTEN! She did and it's been over 6 years since I'VE QUIT!
I breathe better and I saved a lot of money but most of all I finall did listen up!

as a smoker you don't feel like that when you are around smoke. You don't notice how stinky you are or how terrible it is for you. Do i feel bad for smokers? No, i do have some sympathy for the people that choose to quit. It is a real difficult thing to quit - even after you get over the physical addiction you still have the mental addiction for what seems like the rest of their lives. I used to smoke - i loved to smoke and didn't want to give it up! I have 2 kids, quit both times i was pregnant and never smoked in the house. I was more of a social smoker than someone that was actually addicted, i quit about 2 years ago and i still miss it. When i watch a movie and someone is having a smoke, i think how nice it would be to have one. But when i am around the smoke i get home and reak! I hate that smell, and i used to smell like that - YUCK!

No, you can't imagine what the smoker goes through. [Please... we don't require sympathy for our decision.] Especially now with all the bad publicity and bans. I honestly feel like a second class citizen. A citizen born and raised in Canada, who suddenly has no rights. I have always said, if smoking is so bad, why isn't it made illegal? Heroin, cocaine, meth, speed, mushrooms etc are all life threatening in quantity and they are illegal. What is the difference? Is it that the governments make so much money on the taxes that they are unwilling to take a stand? Are the tobacco conglomerates, that powerful and influential? [ I know of countries that sell American cigarettes for a fraction of what we pay. Can you tell me how they can import American smokes and still sell them for a third less than what American citizens pay?] It causes one to pause and ponder the real reasons behind the whole tobacco conspiracy. I figure the mass publicity campaign against cigarette smokers is all a smoke screen [ha ha, I made a funny] for the real issues that our electives refuse to address.

Hey, they know by now that they shouldn't and its bad. I just tell them that anytime I see somebody light up. My man smoked when I first met him, then he quit cold turkey. Now he can't stand it either! I knew a few people to quit then decided to go right back to it. I think alot of it is mental addiction. But No, I don't feel sorry for them. If it bothers them they can stop anytime.

Well, I feel sorry for people like my mother who tried it when they were really young and impressionable, and now they're so addicted that they can't quit. There is so many places that don't allow smoking...why don't you go to one of those?
